Gold Coast’s Preferred Multicultural Community Organisation

Support • Connection • Opportunity • Belonging TMC is a not-for-profit community-based organisation that provides services, assistance and support to migrants in the areas of settlement, social participation and employment. Through Government-funded projects and initiatives, TMC provides assistance with job search and employment preparation; settlement assistance for newly-arrived migrants and ref

ugees. Social inclusion is a critical factor in the successful integration of migrants and TMC promotes and participates in community events involving more than 40 different ethnic-cultural-faith-special interest groups on the Gold Coast and south-east Queensland.

The Centre is managed by a small professional team and assisted by permanent volunteers and a pool of on-call volunteers. TMC’s staff are Australian-born and from migrant backgrounds, each one with their own migrant experience and multilingual ability. Since incorporation in 2001, TMC has walked in the shoes of migrants, shared their experiences and hardships, witnessed their high moments and bad times. Over the years, TMC has received countless messages and letters from clients who have expressed their gratitude to TMC for voicing their concerns, advocating on their behalf, assisting in a range of areas from very difficult issues such as domestic violence to small tasks such as form filling. TMC has its finger on the pulse of the multicultural community on the Gold Coast.

✨ A night worth celebrating! ✨

TMC’s team had the privilege of attending the Multicultural Queensland Awards at Logan Entertainment Centre, celebrating the incredible people and organisations working to build a more inclusive and connected Queensland.

We are incredibly proud to share that Thriving Multicultural Communities (TMC) received a Highly Commended award in the Social Cohesion and Community Impact Project of the Year category for our Ageing Gracefully project!!

This recognition is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and heart that goes into supporting our multicultural seniors — creating opportunities for connection, participation, advocacy and, most importantly, ensuring our seniors feel heard, valued and included in their communities.

A very special congratulations to Krystal, our Ageing Gracefully Project Coordinator, whose passion and dedication shine through every day. From advocating for our seniors to creating opportunities for them to connect, get involved and get out and about, her commitment makes such a meaningful difference. 👏🏼

We also extend our warmest congratulations to all of the incredible award recipients and finalists recognised throughout the evening. It was inspiring to celebrate the work being done across Queensland’s diverse communities.

A heartfelt thank you to the Queensland Government for recognising the contribution of organisations like TMC and for hosting such a wonderful evening.

TMC was proud to host the Multicultural Seniors Advocacy Network, in partnership with ADA — bringing seniors from diverse cultural backgrounds together to share their experiences, concerns and ideas.

We were also pleased to welcome Joe Wilkinson, Councillor for Division 7, who joined us for the event and supported the important conversations taking place around the needs, priorities and aspirations of multicultural seniors. 🤝

The Network provides older adults with a direct voice in shaping the services, activities and resources that affect their lives. Through meaningful discussion, advocacy and co-design, participants can help influence initiatives and develop programs that genuinely reflect their communities.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed their voices — together, we’re creating a more inclusive and connected community. ❤️

For more than a decade, TMC has had the privilege of walking alongside Najma and her family on their settlement journey. Since 2015, we have watched with pride as they have grown, overcome challenges, embraced opportunities and built a bright future here in Australia.

One of the greatest joys of our work is celebrating milestones like these and we were honoured to share in Najma’s Australian citizenship celebration. Seeing Nagma become an Australian citizen was a special moment and exactly the kind of outcome we love to celebrate. It reflects the sense of belonging, connection and community that makes Australia such a great place to call home.

Congratulations, Najma. We are so pleased to have shared this special occasion with you and your family and wish you all the very best for the future. 🇦🇺❤️

Thriving Multicultural Communities (TMC) was delighted to attend the Singapore and Malaysia National Day celebration hosted by GCCMAS – Gold Coast Community for Malaysians & Singaporeans. The event brought together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate culture, heritage, community spirit and the strong connections that make the Gold Coast such a welcoming and multicultural place to call home. The celebration highlighted the shared traditions, food, memories and community pride of both Singaporean and Malaysian communities.

It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, meet new community members and strengthen the relationships that help our multicultural communities thrive. Thank you to GCCMAS for hosting such a vibrant and welcoming event. TMC is proud to support and celebrate the many cultures that enrich our region and bring people together through connection, understanding and friendship.

Mark your calendars, TMC seniors! 🌸

We’re heading to the Toowoomba Flower Festival on Saturday 19 September, and this year we want the grandkids to come too!

It’s a full day trip while Toowoomba’s gardens are in peak bloom, with return coach travel so you can just sit back and enjoy the ride. Once we’re there, you’ll get a self-guided tour booklet and the freedom to wander at your own pace.

This one’s designed to be intergenerational — every senior can bring one grandchild (aged 5-17) along to enjoy the gardens together. A lovely chance to make some memories across generations!

Coach leaves Southport Library at 6:30am and we’ll be back by 5:30pm. It’s a free event, but seats are limited, so please RSVP to [email protected] by Friday 11 September to lock in your spot.

TMC was proud to attend the 2026 Celebrating Multicultural Communities Reception, a wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate the people, organisations and communities that make our region so diverse and vibrant.

It was lovely to see so many familiar faces, reconnect with community leaders and partners, and meet others who share a passion for creating a more inclusive and connected community.
