The Fire Danger Period for Latrobe City will end on Tuesday 7 April at 1am. Local council restrictions may still apply. Visit the Latrobe City website to find out more about council burn-off restrictions.

If you are planning a burn-off after this date make sure to do the following:
- always register your burn-off
- have sufficient water available to fully extinguish your burn-off
- remain in attendance at your burn-off
- check the weather conditions and forecast for the day you are lighting and a few days after

Following these steps helps stop unnecessary fire brigade callouts, and can help prevent your burn-off from escaping.

Today is a day of Total Fire Ban across the entire state of Victoria. No fires may be lit or be allowed to remain alight until 12:01am tomorrow morning. Visit https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restrictions/fire-bans-ratings-and-restrictions/can-i-or-cant-i for information on what you can and can't do during a Total Fire Ban.

While our area in this part of Gippsland has mostly avoided the fires seen in other parts of the state, it is vital that no new fires start as firefighting resources are stretched across the state. Our brigade has responded to 2 grass fires in the last 2 days - 1 on Friday on Three Chain Rd at Cowwarr, and 1 on Saturday on Burnets Rd in Traralgon East. Thanks to quick responses by CFA firefighters, both fires were able to be controlled while still small.

There is still a long way to go in the fire season. Everyone living in an area at risk of bushfire or grassfire needs to have a fire plan. If you haven't already, please download the VicEmergency app and setup a watch zone to ensure you receive emergency information and warnings relevant to you.
