⚠️⚠️ Thunderstorm Forecast ⚠️⚠️

The Bureau of Meteorology have advised that thunderstorms are again possible across parts of the Northern Tablelands this afternoon and evening, and likely in the upper North-East corner of our area.

As always, we are advising residents where possible to move vehicles from under trees and into cover and secure any loose items around your house and yard.

Given what we have seen across the state in the last couple of days, these thunderstorms could bring damaging winds, large hail and localised heavy rainfall, which is possible with severe thunderstorms (potential supercells).

Our NSW SES teams have been out and about the last few days assisting the multiple impacted areas and are here to support if we see these storms develop again later today. If you do need assistance from the NSW SES give us a call on 132 500 or if your situation is an emergency always call 000.

Please keep in mind that there have been over 2200 calls to the SES for assistance since 10am yesterday, and our members have been working around the clock to assist the community.

The SES is here to help during emergencies like severe storm damage or risks to life and property. For minor tree jobs in your yard, please contact a local tree service instead, so we can stay available for those in urgent need.

Thanks everyone, please stay safe.

⚠⚠ Weather Update ⚠⚠
The Bureau of Meteorology have released the updated warning area for potential Severe Thunderstorms this afternoon.

Flash flooding and storm damage are the main risks with the forecast thunderstorms.

Thunderstorm activity is forecast to bring isolated dangerous thunderstorms with wind gusts of up to 125 km/hr and giant hailstones up to 5cm in diameter.

While more likely on the Queensland side of the border, tornados are a watchpoint for border communities in the Northern Tablelands. Tornadoes can range in size from a few metres to around one kilometre in diameter. They have extreme winds and with an intense updraught are capable of lifting heavy objects such as cars and can cause extensive damage.

We are urging the community to prepare now before the forecast storm hits. People in the forecast areas should tie down loose items outside their homes, clear their gutters and trim any overhanging branches now before the weather is due to hit.

Download the Hazards Near Me app to stay across the latest information and warnings.

If you do need assistance from the NSW SES please give us a call on 132 500, and if your situation is an emergency always call 000.

Thanks everyone, please stay safe.

⚠ Thunderstorm Warning ⚠

The Bureau of Meteorology have advised that thunderstorms are possible across most of the state today. Severe thunderstorms are possible across most of our zone.

Within the risk area (yellow/red), damaging wind gusts (gust exceeding 90 km/h), large hail (diameter > 2cm), and localised heavy falls leading to flash flooding, are all concerns.

Please secure items around your house and yard and where possible move vehicles away from trees and into cover.

With the potential for heavy isolated falls, localised flash flooding is a concern. Please remember to always drive to the conditions, make smart decisions on the road and never enter a flooded road or causeway.

If you do need the assistance of the NSW SES give us a call on
132 500 or if your situation is an emergency call 000.

⚠⚠ Time to Prepare ⚠⚠

With the forecast for moderate to heavy rainfall over the next 48hrs and potential for river rises and flooding across the area we are asking residents to begin making preparations around the house.

Where possible, clean out your gutters, tie down or put away any loose equipment in the yard.

If you need to stock up on medicine, food or any other supplies (including animal feed or fodder), try and get out early before we start to see river rises.

As always, the NSW SES are here to assist. If you need help call us on 132 500, or 000 if your situation is an emergency.

We are mindful that a lot of the community are fatigued after the multiple events we have seen this year, this is also true for our volunteers but please remember our teams are out to help and keep the community safe.

If you don't already have it, please download the Hazards Near Me app to stay across the updates and warning as the situation changes.

Thanks everyone, please stay safe.
