There’s something very special about Christmas in the country. ❤️🎄
And this year, we’d love you to come and experience it with us in the beautiful Glen Innes Highlands.

Christmas In The Highlands is about more than one evening in Grey Street. It’s an invitation to slow down for a few days, bring the family, stay the weekend and discover a part of NSW that we’re incredibly proud to call home.

Come for Christmas In The Highlands and stay to explore.
Wander through our beautiful heritage streets. Visit the iconic Australian Standing Stones and discover the Celtic heart of the Highlands. Go fossicking for sapphires, browse our local shops, galleries and boutiques, enjoy country pubs and cafés, visit our surrounding villages, and take a drive through some of the spectacular countryside that surrounds Glen Innes.

Pack your walking shoes and explore our national parks and waterfalls. Take the scenic roads. Stop at the little places you might normally drive past. Meet the locals. Have breakfast somewhere new. Buy something made here. Sit down for a good country meal and enjoy not having to rush home.

Most importantly, when you choose to stay in Glen Innes, eat here, shop here and explore here, you’re supporting the small businesses and people who keep our regional communities thriving and that genuinely means a great deal to our community ❤️

Then, as Saturday afternoon rolls around, make your way into town and join us as Grey Street comes alive for Christmas In The Highlands.

Council invites community members to be part of the large scale projects. Delivering five workshops across September, there is a time and location to suit most.

Draw, colour, crayon, paint and dream a Christmas inspired artwork which will be animated and projected giant size at the Christmas in the Highlands - Illuminations event - Saturday 28 November 2026.
