A really worthwhile workshop to attend

🍋🍎Most of us would have come across grafted fruit trees at some point, but have you ever thought about grafting native plants? 🌳🪵

The same principles apply to both fruit trees and natives. In very basic terms, grafting is the process of joining two different plants together (one upper and one lower) to combine desirable attributes (flower/ fruit/ form) with a strong disease resistant root system.

Would you like to learn more about grafting native plants and the techniques used? MRL is holding a workshop on Sat 9th May in conjunction with Native Plants Queensland focused purely on grafting! Our presenters - Jan Glazbrook and Dennis Cox have been members of NPQ for more than 40 years. They have run their own wholesale nursery, specialising in grafted plants mainly grevilleas but also Eremophilas, Brachychitons and the Myrtaceae family.

This is very unusual. Walruses have appeared on the beach at North Bribie Island.

OMG 😳 this morning Buzz couldn't believe it lenses doing an early run to the southern end of the work site low and behold there were two what appeared to be "Walruses" on the beach !!!
Buzz was low on battery after a run down the beach and by the time we changed batteries and went back for a second look they weren't to be found.
Keep an eye out for these big boys I am sure they will surface again 💯👌😀

The GMAN native plant sale at last Saturday's Neighbour's Day event at the Glass House Community Hall. Cliff is seen here chatting with Ron Gillinder about the Bird Wing Butterfly Vine and our other native plants. Jackie and Lois looking on attentively. Native plants are for sale on our potting days, each Monday 8am to 9.30am. Prices range from $2 to $5 and even cheaper if buying several.

There has been another fall on Mount Beerwah. We give our condolences and deepest respect to the family during this difficult time. We urge people not to climb the Mountain during adverse weather and follow the advice provided by QPWS.

A teenage girl has died and another teenager has been critically injured after falling while climbing Mount Beerwah in the Glasshouse Mountains on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
