Little Explorers Playgroup

Little Explorers Playgroup Little Explorer's is a fun way to entertain your children with playdoh, craft and painting. We meet Monday during school term from 9-11am.

Parents enjoy the opportunity to catch up with friends & connect with new people. Cost is $30 per term for a family Little Explorers Playgroup is a ministry of the Gladstone Uniting Church. We cater for all families with newborn to school age children. We have a fantastic program for the children which provides the stimulation and exploration that kids need in a safe and controlled environment. Ch

ildren are provided with surroundings in which they can play and learn to socialise in larger groups at a young age, but still have the safety and assurance of their parents being with them. We offer many things each session such as craft activities, painting, play dough, group morning tea, wet and messy play (in summer), story time, group singing and free play both indoor and out. Parents also flourish in this environment as they are able to make friendships with other parents who have children of similar ages and it also allows them to grow their own support network. As Gladstone has such a shifting population we have found that many families move to the area and are then left with no extended family for support. Little Explorers Playgroup can provide a non-threatening place for families to make these networks and to become a part of a community. Costs involved are a per term fee of $30.00 per family. Little Explorers Playgroup runs on Mondays 9:00 am till 11:00 am. Playgroup runs in line with the State School terms and holidays.

It is with very heavy hearts that we are finally making a call for 2026 - Little Explorers Playgroup in its current form is ending.

LEP has operated as a ministry of Uniting Church in Gladstone & Tannum Sands for more years than anyone is quite sure about, but it is somewhere around 25-30 years. We have watched countless children and families grow up with us, leave us for new adventures at school or in other places, and some even return with their own children. So many people have been a part of LEP and helped make it what it was through numerous different iterations.
We have been blessed with many leaders in that time, but we have reached a point where there are not the volunteers available to continue LEP. We will miss our playgroup friends tremendously, and want to thank everyone for their love and support over all the many years.

No good thing can be allowed to end without a send-off, so we are holding a service of thanksgiving this coming Sunday 8th February at the Gladstone Uniting Church at 9:15am. Everyone is welcome to attend. We will also be holding a more informal celebratory event at some point where we will invite anyone who has been a part of our playgroup at any time to come and share some memories. Watch this space!
