Today we’re celebrating all the dads in our brigade, the ones who somehow manage to juggle family life, work, training, call-outs and everything else that comes with being a CFA volunteer.

To our firefighter dads, thank you for giving your time to help protect our community, and to the families who share you with us, thank you too. ❤️

And to all the dads, grandads, stepdads, father figures and special men in our Gisborne community, we hope you have a fantastic Father’s Day!

🚒🚨 CAN WE GET TO YOU IN AN EMERGENCY?

When we’re responding to an emergency, every second counts.

One simple thing you can do to help us is make sure our trucks have clear access to your property, and that nearby fire hydrants are easy for us to find and access.

Please take a moment to check your driveway, gates, access roads and the area around any hydrants near your property. Overgrown vegetation, parked cars, trailers or other obstructions can make it harder for emergency crews to get where they need to be.

We might only have minutes to get to someone who needs our help. Clear access can make a real difference. ❤️

🔥🚒 THE STAIR CLIMB IS ALMOST HERE! 🚒🔥

The countdown is on, and Team Gisborne is getting ready to take on the challenge! 💪

Our firefighters will be climbing 28 floors and more than 500 steps, wearing full structural firefighting gear and breathing apparatus. And yes… that’s as tough as it sounds! 😮‍💨😂

But this challenge is about so much more than climbing stairs. ❤️ Funds raised through the Firefighter Stair Climb help support cancer research and provide crisis support through Lifeline, helping make a difference to people and families when they need it most.

It’s tough, it’s sweaty, it’s a little bit crazy… but our team is up for it! 😜

We’d love for our Gisborne community to get behind Team Gisborne and cheer them on as they take on the challenge. ❤️

🌸 Hello, Spring! 🔥

Spring has officially arrived, and while we’re all enjoying the warmer days and getting stuck into those outdoor jobs, it’s also the time of year when we start seeing more smoke around our communities.

A quick reminder that if you’re planning a burnoff, please make sure it’s registered and that you’re familiar with the current restrictions and requirements before you light up.

Even a well-managed burn can look concerning from a distance, and understandably, neighbours may report smoke if they’re unsure what’s happening.

A little preparation and communication can save a lot of worry, and can also save our emergency services from being called to investigate a burn that could have been avoided with a quick registration.

Enjoy the sunshine, enjoy the garden clean-up, and most importantly, let’s keep each other safe this spring. 🌿

🔥 Lots of little puffs of smoke around Gisborne over the weekend! 🔥

With clear skies, light winds and some lovely weather, it looks like plenty of people are taking the opportunity to get stuck into a bit of burning off and start getting their properties ready for summer. 👌

It’s a great time to reduce those fuel loads, but remember… just because the weather is beautiful, doesn’t mean the fire can be left to do its own thing! 😉

If you’re planning a burn-off, make sure you:

🔥 Check the rules and restrictions that apply to your property, including any local council requirements.
🔥 Keep at least a 3-metre clearance around your burn, free of flammable material.
🔥 Have plenty of water and the right equipment ready to contain and extinguish it.
🔥 Allow enough time to stay with the fire and monitor it until it is completely out.
🔥 Keep an eye on the weather, particularly the wind.
🔥 Let your neighbours know if smoke is likely to affect them.
🔥 And most importantly… REGISTER YOUR BURN-OFF!

🐾 FOUND DOG 🐾

***UPDATE - dog has been collected by the ranger.

This beautiful fella was found wandering on Robertson Road this morning.

He is safe and secure at the rear of our CFA Station while we try to locate his owner.

Simulated MVA Training 🚒

Last night, members took part in a series of simulated motor vehicle accident (MVA) scenarios designed to test and develop their operational skills in a realistic environment.

Crews practised key aspects of on-scene management, including establishing incident control, coordinating resources, maintaining scene safety and managing casualties.

As part of the exercise, crews also set up a tanker relay system to simulate a scenario where no hydrants were available. This gave members the opportunity to practise establishing and maintaining a water supply over distance, something that can be particularly important when responding to incidents in rural areas.

A great night of practical training and plenty of hands-on experience for our members.

Moving to a new country can be a lot to take in, and understanding fire safety and what to do in an emergency can be confusing, especially when English isn’t your first language.

That’s why CFA and FRV have made fire safety information available in a range of languages, including audio and visual resources.

We want everyone in Gisborne and the whole Macedon Ranges community to feel informed, prepared and confident when it comes to fire safety. ❤️
