Just a quick shout out to Mini Mr. Gisborne for their generosity on this

They regularly keep us caffeinated throughout the days and have looked after us in the early morning on return from many a job with coffee and a friendly chat.

🧡 It's Wear Orange Wednesday! 🧡

Today we're celebrating the amazing volunteers who make SES what it is.

From responding to storms and road crash rescues to searching for missing people and helping out at community events, our members are always ready to lend a hand when the community needs us.

Being an SES volunteer is about more than responding to emergencies – it's about being part of a team, making lifelong friendships, and giving back to the community we all call home.

A huge thank you to every SES volunteer, and to the families, friends and employers who support us behind the scenes.

If you know an SES volunteer, make sure you give them a shout-out today! 🧡

Most importantly Happy Mother’s Day to all our SES mums that volunteer and support our volunteers.

We hope you have an enjoyable day.

A new national warning system called AusAlert will be used across Australia from October 2026.

AusAlert will be able to send warning messages to your mobile device as push notifications during:
• Natural hazards such as bushfires, floods, and tsunamis
• Public health emergencies
• Biosecurity incidents
• Security threats

Before the system is introduced, it will be tested.

In Victoria, a local test will happen in the Geelong suburbs of Highton and Belmont on Thursday 18 June at 2 pm, followed by a national test on Monday 27 July at 2 pm.

More about the tests and rollout of AusAlert will be shared on the VicEmergency page in the coming weeks.

Our thoughts and condolences are today with the families and colleagues from Marine Rescue NSW after the tragic loss of their colleagues overnight.

Last night was the darkest night ever experienced by Marine Rescue NSW.

Marine Rescue NSW volunteers answer the call for help 24/7 and last night six members from Marine Rescue Ballina did just that. They launched with a single mission, to save lives on the water and assist a yacht, reported to be in difficulty off the South Ballina break wall.

Tragically, two of our volunteers lost their lives during the response.

Marine Rescue NSW Commissioner Todd Andrews said the devastating loss is a solemn reminder of the risks faced by volunteers who serve their communities.

“These two men were serving their local community and have made the ultimate sacrifice to help others.

“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of the deceased, their fellow crew members, the brave radio operators who handled the difficult communications during the incident, the entire Marine Rescue NSW family and the wider Ballina community during this incredibly difficult time.

“We are supporting our volunteers and their families through professional counselling and chaplaincy support.

“We ask that the privacy of those involved and their families be respected during this difficult time,” Commissioner Andrews said.

CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL FIREFIGHTERS DAY 🚒

At the Gisborne unit, we’re lucky to work closely with our local CFA brigades, standing side by side at incidents, training together, and supporting our community when it matters most.

From fires to storms and everything in between, our firefighters show up time and time again with skill, dedication, and a real commitment to helping others.

Thank you to our local brigades for your ongoing support, collaboration, and dedication.

To all career and volunteer firefighters, today is about recognising the time you give, the risks you take, and the vital role you play every single day.

We appreciate everything you do.

Lest we forget 🌺

It was an early start for Gisborne SES this morning, with members on deck from 3am helping out with parking at Tony Clarke Reserve for The Mt Macedon Anzac Day Dawn Service.

We then made our way back to Gisborne to be part of the local service, standing alongside our community to remember and reflect.

Always a privilege to support our community as they come together on ANZAC Day.

Lest we forget.
