Local community groups and organisations are invited to take part in this year’s festival, whether by promoting their activities, connecting with residents or contributing to the event atmosphere.

We’re also inviting local businesses and organisations to explore sponsorship opportunities and help us make this year’s Palettes & Plates even bigger and better.

🚧 𝗨𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 – 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸, 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻

As part of the Shire’s annual maintenance program, essential maintenance works will be undertaken at the Wangaree Ablution Facility on Tuesday 22 September.

To ensure these works can be completed safely and efficiently, the Wangaree Ablution Facility will be closed from 7:00am to 4:00pm while the maintenance works are being carried out. Temporary signage will be in place.

🍏𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺

The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is pleased to advise that LiveWell Learn, a FREE, healthy lifestyles program, is rolling out across the Wheatbelt.

LiveWell Learn is delivered as a group-based education and activity program, running for one hour a week, over six-eight weeks. The program is run by qualified Health Promotion Officers and is suitable for adults who are interested in learning more about healthy living in a friendly, supportive environment.

Sessions focus on building knowledge, skills, and confidence to support sustainable lifestyle changes that contribute to improved long-term health outcomes. LiveWell Learn is delivered locally within the Wheatbelt community.

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 6.19 of the Local Government Act 1995, that the Shire of Gingin intends to impose the below amendments to the 2026/2027 financial year Fees and Charges due to errors in the initial Fees and Charges document that was adopted at an Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 28 July 2026. These amendments will be imposed from 28 September 2026.

The Community Citizen of the Year Awards give us the opportunity to celebrate the positive impact of individuals, groups and events who are engaged and committed to our local community.

The Awards are made up of four categories:
🔸 Community Citizen of the Year (for individuals over 16 years)
🔸 Young Community Citizen of the Year (for individuals aged 16-30 years)
🔸 Senior Community Citizen of the Year (for individuals aged 65 years and over)
🔸 Active Citizenship (for community groups or events)

📆 Nominations are now open until 𝟯𝟭 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and can be submitted at www.citizenshipawards.com.au/nominate

📢 Recipients will be announced at our Australia Day Event in January 2027.

👵 In recognition of the incredible work unpaid carers do for our community, and in celebration of seniors during Seniors Week 2026, we are co-hosting a FREE Movie Matinee Marathon with Carers WA!

From 11:00am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday (9 - 13 November), carers and seniors will have the opportunity to speak with service providers and learn about local support available to them. Following this, the screening of a cinematic classic will take place (we recommend bringing your own comfy camping chair). Please RSVP to the Community Development Team for catering purposes.

Tues, 10 Nov - Casablanca - Ledge Point Country Club
Wed, 11 Nov - Ice Cold in Alex - Seabird Hall

Fri, 13 Nov - Roman Holiday - Woodridge Hall

Transport and a light lunch is provided each day. You can book your seat on the bus through the Shire of Gingin (Gingin Town), Lower Coastal Community Association (Lower Coastal) and Lancelin CRC (Upper Coastal).
