On our Tuesday training night we ventured outside of the station! We pulled up at our local marina, and practised our ocean drafting. This one one of the many ways that we can collect water if we don’t have access to a hydrant. This can also be done from other large bodies of water such as dams, pools or lakes!

On the 10th of June we celebrate First Responders Day.

We take today to reflect and thank our first responders of all industries. Rain or shine they’re out there helping our community.

Today on June 1st it’s Smoke alarm action day! We encourage everyone to check there smoke alarms thoroughly, with the process of “Test, Check, Clean, Replace”! This small act can help keep you and your family safe in your homes.

It’s hydrant check time! Once a year all hydrants are throughly looked over and checked for functionality. You’ll see some of our brigade members around Glenfield and Drummond Cove!

Persuading the BA boys to do a little dance for the social media paid off…

Last night, on our usual Tuesday training we ran a BA (breathing apparatus) training night. With a smoke machine positioned in an enclosed building our senior and BA qualified firefighters ran a complete simulation of responding to an incident that required a BA response. Our junior firefighters that aren’t BA qualified ran drills of hydrant and hose running. Thank you from the help of the regional office for providing a BA trailer which made this training night possible.
