A big thank you to everyone who attended our recent Volunteer Training Days at RDA South West.

Held across two days, the training gave both new and returning volunteers the chance to refresh their skills, complete grounds training, and take part in horse leader and side walker training ahead of the new term.

We’re also grateful to Sarah Sheedy, who spent time teaching warm-up exercises with the horses, including work to improve flexion and massage techniques. It was a valuable opportunity for volunteers to build their knowledge and confidence while learning more about horse care and preparation behind the scenes.

Thank you to all of our coaches, trainers and volunteers who helped make the days such a success. Training like this plays an important role in keeping our riders, horses and volunteers safe and supported throughout the year.

We’re looking forward to putting it all into action as the term gets underway.

A big thank you to everyone who helped at our recent Busy Bee as we prepared the Centre for the first rides of 2026.

There was plenty happening behind the scenes, with volunteers helping to clean and organise the office, tidy the yard, put up new boots and horse sponsorship displays, and sort and clean animal equipment. Sarah also checked paddock conditions ahead of the horses returning, and hay bales were delivered as part of the preparation.

These working bees are such an important part of getting the Centre ready and making sure everything is safe, organised and welcoming for our riders, volunteers and horses.

Thank you to everyone who gave their time and energy to help get us ready for the year ahead.

Our horses are at the heart of everything we do at RDA South West. They help children and adults living with disability build confidence, strength and connection – but caring for them year-round takes ongoing resources.

We’ve created a Horse Sponsorship Program to help cover the costs of feed, farrier and dental care, vet visits, tack and equipment.

You can choose a once-off sponsorship level that suits you, from a contribution towards equipment right through to a full year of care for one horse. Every sponsor receives:

A certificate of appreciation

A photo and profile of their sponsored horse

Recognition at the Centre and on our social media

If you’d like to sponsor a horse or learn more, please speak to a team member at the Centre or email [email protected]
– we’d love to hear from you.
