Geelong Gaol Museum A 19th century gaol which operated from 1853-1991 in the same conditions you see today. Open to the public everyday between 12-5pm.

Permanent Exhibitions include Saga Behind the Armour, Stitched Up and Capital Punishment. Customers are required to follow current Victorian Government guidelines for COVID-19

On the night of 4 September 1864, Senior Sergeant Thomas Smyth and three Albury policemen were camped near Henty when notorious bushranger Dan “Mad Dog” Morgan suddenly opened fire on their tent. The officers returned fire, but Morgan escaped into thick scrub. Smyth was seriously wounded in the shoulder. After a difficult journey for medical treatment, he was taken to Albury, where he later died.
