Newcomb Hall signage upgrade is complete.

As you can see from the photo the street signage at the Hall was pretty old, rusted and needing some TLC.

So I asked Council to fix it. And they have.

The City of Greater Geelong Community and Recreation team recently completed an upgrade of the old hoop signs to new black plinth signs as part of the City's annual renewal program.

I know it's only a sign! Maybe not selfie-worthy.

But I get excited when I see great things happening in our local area, even when they're only small upgrades like this one.

The Newcomb Hall is available for hire and for cheeky selfies on the corner of Dorward Avenue and Wilsons Road, Newcomb.

Exciting news at the Thomson Recreation Reserve, Thomson with construction of the upgraded playground almost complete.

Last week the concrete pad was poured, with the equipment delivered and installed, including a slide, small tower, climbing equipment, monkey bars, and interactive puzzles.

The playground should be fully completed within the next few weeks ready for local kids, including students of neighbouring St Margaret's and Tate Street schools.

The playground upgrade was part of the overal upgrade of the Netball Courts and Cricket training facilities that were completed in April, thanks to $1M funding from the FY 2024/25 Council budget, which I fought hard for along with the Thomson Tigers Sports Club.

Exciting news at the Aldershot Reserve, St Albans Park with construction started on the next stage of the Masterplan.

Last week the equipment was delivered and installed for the outdoor fitness area, located between the playground and dog park.

Shortly you’ll see the construction of the public toilet, the asphalt pump track, and more lansdcaping and seating at the Reserve.

This has been made possible with the contribution of $1.5M from the City of Greater Geelong, and the $1M from Christine Couzens MP and the Victorian State Government.

I cant wait to try it out myself! Though I might start on the bike and leave the chin ups to the experts... 🚲🤸🏻‍♂️🏋🏻‍♂️💪🏻👟🤣

It was great to volunteer a few hours with the Geelong Thunder BMX club this Mother’s Day weekend at the Leopold Bunnings BBQ.

The club raised some much needed funds to support the club and riders selected for the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships Australian team.

Like many local sports clubs the Thunder relies 100% on volunteers, to manage Gates Nights and Clubbies, staff the canteen, deliver first aid, maintain and prepare the track / facilities, manage events, etc!

Well done team! And of course Go Thunder!
