Today NSW SES Garah Unit celebrates its 30th Anniversary.

Garah Unit started, with a community petition to have an SES Unit seeking Road Crash Rescue and Flood Management capability

The unit had their musters at Garah Public School until suitable facilities were built which was officially opened on 20th January 2001 by Bruce Gaudry MP, who was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Emergency Services.

Below are some photos of the units opening.

We wake up to the sad news of the tragedy which happened in Ballina Overnight.

Volunteers just like us have paid the ultimate price to help members of the community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families including those involved in the boating incident.

Rest in Peace.

Yesterday NSW SES farewelled Deputy Commissioner Debbie Platz, as she has been appointed as Queensland’s new Human Rights Commissioner.

Our volunteers have shared mixed emotions of congratulations and well-deserved appointment to such an important role that we look forward to seeing her excel in, whilst also feeling the loss of a person that has been such an inspiration, advocate, and passionate leader with NSW SES since her appointment as Deputy Commissioner in May 2023 and whilst acting as Commissioner over extended periods.

We wish you all the very best, Deb.
