We went to Mallywood today!

Fun fact : today’s ‘carpark’ is actually the LARGEST BACKLOT in the southern hemisphere for creating outside film sets 👀

Sofia (our treasured daughter and a film student at ECU) has completed a three month internship through the Arts and Culture Trust based at Perth Film Studios. She’s had a blast, and we’re super impressed all round!

Congratulations to the North Fremantle Primary School - their 2026 Campout Fundraiser on Gil Fraser Oval was a great success!

Thanks to our Events and Safety teams who jumped into action with ensuring the sprinklers didn't come on (imagine!) and CSO drive-bys in the wee hours.

The kids raised more than $400, which was donation matched taking the total to over $800, for St Pats 🙌

West Tech Fest 2026 launched last night! 🎉

Caitlin, our Manager Economic Development & Events and the team have worked to bring this to Freo and from our discussions last night EVERYONE is excited!

Bringing all the big brains for WA tech, across many industries to investors and the world at large, THIS is an exciting form of creativity for Freo.

7:30am this morning, I hear ‘Where else would you turn up to an event like this and everyone is hugging hello!’

Some of the greatest contributors to Fremantle’s art, design and culture gathered for ’s Innovation Exchange at Walyalup Koort. The discussion covered being brave, taking risks, looking through a lens of joy and saying ‘yes, and how can we make that happen..’.

A successful creative community is also about bringing along government (at ALL levels, hellooo political will) AND the community - because every time we turn up/recommend or spend a dollar it determines who we are as a society. With a community of huggers from all corners of the creative world, the only way for Freo is forward, in great strides.

Fremantle’s beautiful heritage Town Hall has great acoustics, particularly noted when the extraordinarily talented Fremantle Chamber Orchestra, featuring Ellie Malonzo, plays.

Ellie is a 16 year old prodigy. From September, she will continue her undergraduate studies with world-renowned pedagogue David Taneko, at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (she was accepted at age 15!). Her age means she is INELIGIBLE for student accommodation, and international fees are $60k 👀. You can make a TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION to support Ellie’s tuition and living expenses through the Australian Cultural Fund. Search Ellie Malonzo ACF.

Ellie will return regularly to perform in Australia. What an incredible undertaking for Ellie and her family. A star rises.
