Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade

Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade The Brigade is part of the Hawkesbury District of the NSW Rural Fire Service.

Officially formed in 1951, and for over 60 years since then, volunteer members of the Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade have dedicated themselves to the safety, prevention and protection of the Freemans Reach community and its surrounds. Made up of dedicated members from our community, the Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade assists residents during times of emergencies, particularly bush and grass

fires. On average, the Brigade can attend between 30 to 50 fire calls per year, including structural fires, motor vehicle accidents and smaller backyard fires. Of course, we also assist other services where required, including storm damage and flood operations. Freemans Reach Rural Fire Brigade is involved in numerous community activities including school and church fetes, various fundraising activities and RFS Get Ready Weekend campaigns. An Extreme Fire Danger Rating is forecast for the Greater Sydney Region tomorrow, Saturday 5th of September.

A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Greater Sydney Region effective tomorrow from 0001hrs to 2359hrs.

During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire. A total fire ban helps limit the potential of fires starting.

Keep it clear and tidy. Clearing and maintaining
vegetation from your property is a great way to reduce
the risk of fire spreading to your home.

A well-prepared home is far more likely to survive a bush fire.

Burning embers can ignite any accumulated material, so keeping your gutters clean is essential for reducing bush fire risk.

The more you prepare your home, the more likely it will survive a bush fire or ember attack, even if you leave early.

At approximately 15:14 today, Freemans Reach firefighters were paged to reports of a Structure Fire / Shed Fire on Terrace Rd in North Richmond.

On arrival crews located a pile burn behind a home. As the resident was in attendance, a water source available and the pile burn was compliant, crews left the burn with the resident.

Our thanks to Group 2, Tennyson Rural Fire Brigade, NSW RFS - Glossodia Brigade and Kurrajong Rural Fire Brigade for your turnout.

At approximately 11:05 this morning, Freemans Reach firefighters were paged to reports of a vehicle fire on Boundary Rd, Glossodia.

Arriving on scene crews from Freemans Reach 1 and Freemans Reach 1 Bravo (Hawkesbury HQ 1Z) located a running grass fire and a burning utility-body truck.

Working with the landowner as well as our friends at NSW RFS - Wilberforce Brigade and NSW RFS - Glossodia Brigade, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.
