This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC Week — a celebration of resilience, culture, and the voices that have shaped the story of this country.

At Jasmine Preschool, we are proud to celebrate the theme:
“The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.”
A message that deeply resonates with us as we nurture and grow the next generation, who will carry forward the strength of their ancestors, the vision of their communities, and the legacy of all who have walked before them.

NAIDOC Week began as a movement for justice, and today it continues as a celebration of Indigenous excellence, leadership and culture — not just in the past, but in the future our children will help build.

This week, we walk alongside our children as they engage in learning, connect with Country, and continue to understand the deep and enduring legacy of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Guided by Elders, lifted by community, and grounded in truth — we honour the past, celebrate the present, and step forward together toward a shared future.

💡 Quick Tip for Parents: Safety at Pick-Up Time
Just a gentle reminder to keep our little learners safe and sound:

🚶‍♂️ Please ensure your child stays with you during pick-up and does not open gates or doors on their own.
🚗 Slow down in the carpark — little feet move fast and are sometimes hard to see.

Last night, our educators came together for a truly enriching evening focused on wellness and mindset 🌿🧠. Danielle guided us through thoughtful conversations and shared valuable strategies and tools to help support our mental wellbeing—both personally and professionally.

It was a powerful reminder of the importance of self-care, maintaining a growth mindset, and showing up for ourselves so we can be the best for the children and each other 💛

Last Wednesday, for National Simultaneous Storytime, we had a very special guest Steph, one of our lovely mums here at Jasmine who came dressed in character and brought the story to life for the children.

Friends of Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter are seeking donations of blankets and towels to help keep their animals warm and comfortable this winter.

Jasmine Preschool is proud to support this community by holding a collection drive.

Please note: No sheets, pillows or doonas.

If you have any spare blankets or towels to donate, you can place them in the donation basket located out the front of our centre, or drop them directly to the shelter at 10 Mulgrave Road, Mulgrave.

🔥 Campfire Experience – Extending Learning Through Real-Life Exploration 🔥

The children in the Bees room have been showing a growing interest in camping and campfires. In response to this curiosity, educators thoughtfully extended their learning by creating a real-life campfire experience—bringing their play and imagination into the real world.

The children gathered around the fire on their chairs, beginning the experience with an Acknowledgment of Country. Together, we paused to connect with the environment—discussing what we could see, hear, and feel. This reflective moment encouraged mindfulness, respect for Country, and a deeper connection to nature.

With excitement and a sense of wonder, the children took part in roasting marshmallows. This experience not only engaged their senses but also introduced elements of risky play in a safe and supportive environment.
