🎙️ Better Business Segment on RPPFM - Your Peninsula Radio

Did you know? RPPFM’s Better Business segment provides up-to-date information on business events, workshops, grants and programs available to businesses across Frankston City.

It’s also a great opportunity to hear practical insights, ideas and advice that can benefit businesses, no matter where they’re located.

Recently, Mayor Cr Sue Baker and CEO Tennille Bradley joined RPPFM Radio’s Business Class to discuss leadership, local government and the future of Frankston City.

The conversation explored the unique roles of Mayor and CEO, how they work together to deliver for the community, women in leadership, their personal journeys into local government, and the opportunities shaping Frankston City’s future.

Importantly, it was also a chance to challenge outdated perceptions and showcase the Frankston City we know today — a vibrant, connected and growing city full of opportunity, investment and community pride.

From our waterfront and thriving arts scene to business growth, major projects and community initiatives, Frankston City’s story continues to evolve. The discussion also highlighted Think Local Month and the importance of supporting local businesses that help drive our local economy.

You can catch Council’s Economic Development team talking about local business opportunities on RPPFM’s fortnightly segment Business Class.

In late 2025, Frankston City Council undertook a review of how Home and Community Care Program for Younger People (HACC‑PYP) services are delivered. The review considered community feedback, future service needs and how best to ensure services remain strong and well supported into the future.

After reviewing all options and receiving guidance from the State Government, Council decided to transition all HACC‑PYP services to an external provider.

We can now announce that the State Government has appointed the Brotherhood of St. Laurence to deliver HACC‑PYP services to eligible Frankston City residents from 1 July 2026.

The Brotherhood of St. Laurence is an established provider in the region, with 95 experience supporting people to live safely, independently and stay connected to their community. They have a strong track record in integrated, client-centred support and proven expertise in managing HACC‑PYP and similar programs.

Clients affected by this change will be contacted directly and supported throughout the transition, with continuity of care a priority.

💡 Did you know… community engagement helps shape Council projects and decisions? 📣

Council uses community engagement to better understand what matters most to people who live, work and spend time in Frankston City — helping shape planning, priorities and future projects through community feedback.

Feedback is gathered in lots of different ways, including online through Engage Frankston and in person at community pop ups — making it easier for people to stay informed, share ideas and have their say.

📊 What this looks like in practice (2026 stats so far):
✅ 16 projects open for community feedback
✅ More than 3,000 submissions, comments and survey responses received
✅ 1,100 new Engage Frankston members joined
✅ More than 26,000 visits to Engage Frankston
✅ 40 in-person engagement activities held across the city

Community feedback is already helping shape important projects and services in 2026 — including early years services, tree protection, footpath improvements, Council’s annual budget and rates.

Since launching in 2021, Engage Frankston has continued to grow, with close to a total of 400,000 visits and more than 5,700 members joining the platform.

Why this matters
Listening to local voices helps Council make better decisions that reflect the needs, ideas and lived experiences of the community.

What you can do
👉 Join Engage Frankston to:
✅ Follow projects and updates
✅ Share feedback online and stay informed about community pop ups

Next week, Frankston City Mayor Cr Sue Baker and CEO Tennille Bradley will swap comfort for cardboard, taking part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout to shine a light on homelessness in our community.
Right now, more than 59 people are sleeping rough each night in Frankston City — the highest level in four years.

While the sleepout raises awareness, Council is also calling for action: 👉
$2.5 million in State funding to expand critical outreach services in Frankston City that help people move from the streets into safe, stable housing.

Through the Frankston & Mornington Peninsula Zero Project, we know outreach works by building trust, connecting people to support, and changing lives.

If you’re able to, you can support the Sleepout by making a donation.

After the campaign period, Council will be working with Vinnies to direct fundraising efforts back into the local community.

Works are kicking off this month on three key sport and recreation upgrades across Frankston City, supporting safer facilities and growing local participation year-round 👇

🏏 Robinsons Park – Protection net renewal
We’re replacing the protection netting around diamond one. The new, larger structure will improve safety for spectators, car park users, and around the pavilion. Initial footings will also be constructed to allow for future dugout upgrades. This project is fully funded by Council.

🏏 Carrum Downs Recreation Reserve – new enclosed cricket nets
Construction is starting on a brand-new two-lane enclosed cricket training facility, funded by Council, Cricket Victoria, Carrum Downs Cricket Club and the Victorian Government through Sport and Recreation Victoria.
This investment supports the rapid growth of cricket in the area, where the @‌Carrum Downs Cricket Club now boasts over 220 players across junior, senior men’s, women’s and all-abilities teams, plus a thriving junior Blasters program.

💧 Monterey, Pat Rollo and Eric Bells Reserve – recycled water connections
Council is installing tank and pump systems throughout Frankston North at Monterey, Pat Rollo and Eric Bell reserves connecting to the new Monterey Recycled Water Scheme pipeline. Recycled water will soon begin flowing at these popular reserves, helping save our precious drinking water for the athletes and local residents. 🌱💦

These works are funded by Council, with the broader scheme funded by the Victorian Government, South East Water, Council and the National Golf Club – Long Island.

⚽ Just in! We have received $200,000 from the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund for new sports lighting on pitch one (oval four) at Baxter Park! Great news for Baxter Soccer Club which will be able to boost participation through evening training, and provide safer, more inclusive access for all users, particularly women, girls and children. Work is expected to begin in spring this year.

Today is Thank a First Responder Day 🚒🚑🚔

Frankston City is home to incredible people who show up when it matters most, and today we want to take a moment to say thank you.

From firefighters and paramedics, to police, SES volunteers, nurses, ambulance crews, lifesavers and emergency call-takers, we are proud of the incredible network of first responders serving our community.

The courage, compassion and commitment of our first responders keep our community safe, and we cannot thank you enough.

Council's after-hours team is proud to work alongside our emergency services when it counts. Out on the ground through the night and on weekends, they're always ready to assist when called upon.

To every first responder, and everyone who supports them, thank you 💙

Want to say thank you? Share a story about how a first responder has changed your life, or shout them a coffee at 👉http://fortemaustralia.org.au/tafrd-2/thank-a-first-responder/

We’re hearing it more and more from our community — and we understand the frustration 👂🏻😤

🌳Overgrown trees and branches on our roadsides
🍃Long grass and weeds in median strips
🛑Graffiti on signs and soundwalls
💦Blocked drainage pits
🪧Damaged or missing road signs
🚮Rubbish along road reserves
🕳️Potholes
👎🏻Broken guardrails and wire rope barriers

These issues affect safety, amenity and day-to-day life across Frankston City.

While Council works hard to maintain local roads and spaces, many of these problem areas sit on state-managed roads and reserves — which means they fall under State Government responsibility.

When they’re not maintained, the impacts are real:
💦Flooding
⚠️Road safety risks
🏚️Property damage
🚴🏻‍♀️Unsafe conditions for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians
👎🏻A poor visitor experience

We continue to report and escalate these issues — but our community deserves a more consistent and proactive response.

As we approach the State Election, we’re calling for:
✔️ Greater investment in maintenance of state roads and reserves
✔️ Faster response times to local issues
✔️ A long-term commitment to keeping our community safe and well maintained

This is about working together to get the basics right.

You can help by raising these issues with your local candidates in Frankston, Carrum and Hastings, and asking them to put Frankston City First.
