Our Western Port Recycled Water Scheme in Pakenham South is breaking ground. 🚜

To mark the start of construction on Stage 1A, we were joined by Senator Lisa Darmanin, Minister for Water, the Hon. Harriet Shing MP and our delivery partner Beca Fulton Hogan Interflow Joint Venture.

Once complete, the scheme will deliver up to 4,000 million litres of Class A recycled water each year to local farmers across Cardinia Shire Council

This will…
🥕 Support food production with a more secure, climate-resilient water supply
🧑‍🌾 Support 90+ jobs across construction and agriculture
💰 Boost gross regional output by an estimated $104 million

Stage 1A includes around 22 km of new recycled water pipeline, supplying farms in Pakenham South, Cora Lynn and the south of Tynong, with stage 1B to extend another 27km to Vervale, Catani, Iona, Garfield and Bayles.

The $113.2 million scheme is funded through a $66.6 million investment from South East Water, alongside $46.6 million from the Australian Government’s National Water Grid Fund.

“How do they do that?” Good question, Ross and Russ 3AW Breakfast. 🎙️

With our digital water meters, we can help spot continuous water flow at a property, which can be a sign of a hidden leak.

If more than 5 litres of water is used continuously every hour for a full 24 hours, a potential leak notification is triggered.

That means customers can act early before a hidden leak turns into wasted water, property damage or a much bigger bill.

Thanks for the on-air shoutout Daniel and glad you tracked down your sneaky leak!

You can now log in as normal and use available services.

Multi‑property access across accounts isn’t yet available. We’re working to restore this feature and will share updates here.

We took the portal offline to complete checks and proactive updates to enhance its security and reliability.

Thanks for your patience while we completed this important work.

It’s time to fill up Melbourne. 💧

Here’s three years of water storage levels, and the trend says it all.

We’re working hard to secure our region’s water future through digital meters, desal, recycled water and more - but we need your help too.

Small changes at home make a real difference.

🔧 Fix leaks fast - a dripping tap wastes up to 20,000 litres a year
🚿 Cut your shower to 4 minutes, and turn the tap off when brushing your teeth
🌧️ Turn your automatic irrigation off over winter and only water as needed. If soil is still damp a few cm below the surface, skip watering.

These blockages can lead to costly repairs in your home and across our network.

Loved or un-loved 💚❌ your meter tells a story…

A neglected meter = potential hidden leaks, root damage and a challenge for our meter readers.

Don’t ghost your meter. Keep it clear, tidy and loved.

Another switch from septic to pressure sewer 💩 joining over 15,000 others in flat or hilly areas where traditional gravity sewers can struggle!

By switching, locals are upgrading to a smarter, cleaner, low‑maintenance wastewater solution.

Unlike traditional septic systems, pressure sewer safely collects wastewater and pumps it directly into our network.

That means...
🟤 Less risk of leaks
👷 Less maintenance
🦠 Reduced groundwater contamination

Plus, the system is remotely monitored, helping us detect issues early and keep everything running smoothly.

A pipe has burst on Gladstone Street near Montague Street in South Melbourne, so we’ve got crews on site to fix it.

If you’re travelling in the area, you might find there’s delays.

If you live or work in the area and currently don’t have water, we’re sorry. We hope to have your water flowing again soon.

In the meantime, you can take your containers to fill up with drinking water at a tap on a hydrant at 145 Gladstone Street.

Thanks for your patience. VicTraffic

South East Water has teamed up with Gumbuya World to help more than 380,000 visitors a year cool down and Choose Tap with a brand‑new water station at Victoria’s wildest theme park! 🎢

It was great to get out there together with Nimbus the Owl 🦉 and Titan the Python 🐍 who seemed just as excited as we were!

Not only does the new station offer free, fresh tap water, it also features...

✅ Accessible water bubbler
✅ Bottle refill tap
✅ Solar lighting
✅ A digital meter calculating how many plastic bottles are saved from landfill

Every refill helps cut down single‑use plastic and keeps visitors hydrated with Melbourne’s best‑tasting tap water - all while helping protect the animals that call the park home. 💚
