It was a beautiful morning to be out in the reserve yesterday. Somehow, the Saturday group managed to dodge showers at both ends of the morning, and accomplished a great deal of w**ding. Regulars Tim, Dan, Paivi , Rod, Ange and Gillian enjoyed the company of some newcomers. School age Toby and Gracie, accompanied by their Mum, Katie, as well as keen young environmentalist Lucas and his Mum, YanYan, and local ecologist Charlie, all added a lovely energy to the morning. We finished up with a delicious Spring morning tea

Today we started work w**ding and planting in the reserve at the Hoadley Entrance. Natalie from FCC took us for an iNaturalist education session where we brushed up on our skills learning how to record our observations using this program. The rain did not diminish our enthusiasm for the learning task but it did for our continued w**ding. We adjourned to Jenny and David’s for our monthly morning tea.

Year 9 Toorak College Outdoor Education students walked in Sweetwater Creek Nature Reserve last week. We were accompanied by two of our Frankston Natural Reserve Rangers, Tia and Shannon. Sally and Marg from Action Sweetwater Creek guided the group around the reserve.

Yesterday’s w**ding
session at the Hoadley entrance looked like a mammoth task with w**d grasses predominating, making it difficult to see the indigenous plants. Our volunteers are persistent and dedicated so we discovered the hidden beauties.

It was a perfect day for w**ding - Not too cold, and no rain or wind to cause any discomfort. We worked on the Fleetwood Track bed. Other volunteers w**ded in the treed area beside the Brighton Track.
Thanks Jenni, Leanne and Laura for the fungi and mini beast photos.
