We would like to reassure the community that the information being shared is inaccurate and there have been no recent reports of a shooting in the Frankston area.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding three e-dirt bike riders in the local area of Safey Beach.

On Saturday 29 August at approximately 3:45pm, the three unknown riders were sighted by local police on Dromana Parade, Safety beach. Lights and sirens were activated in an attempt to intercept, however, the riders failed to stop on police orders and split up into different directions, before entering onto a pedestrian walkway leading to Seaspray Close.

In recent months, Rosebud Police have received multiple complaints from residents, although have been so far unable to ascertain the identity of the riders involved.

Investigators have released an image of someone they believe may be able to assist with enquiries.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an assault that occurred on Young Street, Frankston on Friday the 21st of August at approximately 11.15pm.

It's believed two males attended 7/11, the victim attends a few moments later, one male has approached the male victim where an argument has started.

A short time later a male pushes the victim to the ground, when the victim stands back up the male then punches the victim to the head, knocking him unconscious.

The two males then flee on foot via Wells Street.

Investigators have released images of the person who may be able to assist with enquires.

Police are continuing to appeal for information on missing person James.

The 39-year-old was last seen on King Street, Melbourne on Thursday 2 July.

James is described as Caucasian, approximately 178 cm tall, medium / solid build, with short brown hair, facial hair and tattoos.

He was last seen wearing a high vis orange jacket over a dark coloured hooded jumper with white writing, pale jeans and tan work boots.

Police and family have concerns for his welfare due to a medical condition.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Moorabbin Police Station on (03) 9556 6565.

Licensed premises in Frankston and on the Mornington Peninsula have been at the centre of an operation targeting compliance, public order and antisocial behaviour to keep patrons safe.

The two-day operation ran last week, resulting in 33 licensed premises inspections at venues across both areas, conducted by Frankston Uniform members with assistance from the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula High Visibility Community Engagement Teams (HiCET).

Sunday 23rd August became Silly Sunday for all the wrong reasons.

Somerville Highway Patrol members were kept busy with 5 drink drivers detected all in one afternoon.

A 76 year old man from Point Leo, a 28 year old disqualified driver from Botanic Ridge, a 45 year old woman from Tootgarook, a 28 year old man from Cranbourne North and 55 year old man from Frankston involved in a collision will all receive a licence loss for drink driving. Disappointed is an understatement.

A timely reminder with the warmer weather approaching... ☀️

On this day, one year ago, two of our colleagues were tragically killed in the line of duty.

Today, and every day, we remember Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart and the tragedy that occurred in Porepunkah on 26 August 2025.

We thank everyone for their support and solidarity on this difficult day.

We will remember them.
