Please check your CCTV or dashcams if you think you might have footage of Holwell Road from the morning of Thursday 2nd April.

Police are investigating the burglary of a Beaconsfield residence on Thursday morning (2 April).

Reports indicate a large fi****ms safe, containing several fi****ms, was removed from the premises Thursday morning and taken away in a Toyota Hilux, which was stolen from the property.

Last night was our Frankford/Birralee Christmas bbq at the station for members and their families.

We took the opportunity to invite Paul Beechey (TFS District Officer) along to hand out some long service and recognition medals and awards.

Photos in order are:
1. David Bruce - 2nd Officer - medal for 20 years service
2. Rob Franklin - 3rd Officer - medal for 10 years service
3. Paul Hallier - 4th Officer - medal for 5 years service
4. Zenon Myers - medal for 5 years service

Finally, the last two photos are of Maureen Penney who received a lifetime service award and certificate of appreciation from the brigade and TFS. Maureen has been involved with the brigade for more than 50 years and took it upon herself to ensure that a team of people was mobilised whenever a fire broke out, this was obviously much more involved back before pagers and mobile phone apps. Maureen would call landlines and if she couldn't reach people she would jump in her car at the drop of a hat and drive around the district until she had enough people ready to fight a fire.

Thankyou for all that you've done for the district Maureen - your efforts and dedication have not gone unnoticed.

These two whipper snappers attended an awards day with TFS recently. Neville Hall on the left has been our brigade chief for the past 8 years and has been awarded a certificate and 40 year service medal. Denis Hall on the right was one of the founding members of the Frankford/Birralee brigade and he received his 45 year service medal along with a 3rd clasp on his National Medal.
Thanks both of you for such ongoing dedicated service to our community!

The Frankford/Birralee brigade has recently become that extra bit more useful after receiving advanced resuscitation training and this oxygen pack from Tasmania Fire Service .

When our crew is first on scene at an incident, be that a fire, vehicle collision or medical emergency we'll be able to administer oxygen early coupled with our defibrillator to improve patient outcomes prior to paramedics taking over.

At this stage about half the brigade have been trained on oxygen administration with the rest hopefully going through the training before the end of the year.

If you're interested in learning new and valuable skills like this maybe consider coming along to our next training session on Tuesday 26th August at 7.30pm or message us with any questions.

Big thanks to Glengarry Volunteer Fire Brigade - Tasmania for sparing the time to come out to our training night last night and running us through the use of their shiny new CAFS truck. Glengarry is often called out to support us with incidents in our area so it's important that we're familiar with how their new truck operates so we're not scratching our heads when time is of the essence.

Compressed Air Foam Systems (CAFS) provides a very dense and stable foam as you can see in the pics that is good at smothering certain types of fires and preventing them from reigniting, it's great to have a diversity of resources like this available in our district.

We're sure you've all noticed the smoke haze in the district this morning. This has come from the fires currently impacting the West Coast at the moment.

There are no active fires that we are aware of in our area at the moment but if you see any smoke or fire that you're concerned about please call 000 immediately.

If you suffer from asthma or similar conditions please make sure you have your medication to hand and where possible, keep yourself out of the smoke.

Hi all, as you may have guessed, the weather over this coming weekend looks good for hanging out at the beach or pool but not so good for fires. With that, the TFS has decided that any burn permits that have been issued will be revoked and no new permits will be issued between 2am Saturday 1st Feb through to 2am Wednesday 5th Feb.

This is not a total fire ban, you are still allowed camp fires and BBQs but maybe reconsider whether you really need it this weekend and if you do light a small fire (

Every year the Frankford/Birralee brigade has a Christmas bbq for members and their families. This year we've decided to combine forces with the Birralee Hall Committee to put on a free community Christmas bbq and we've love you to join us!

It's at the Birralee Hall on Sunday 22nd December from 11.30am to 1.30pm. The bbq is free and there will be lollies and activities for the kids. Santa will arrive half way through. Frankford residents please make sure you come along, it's at the Birralee Hall but it's an event for the whole community.

So get the kids out of the house, bring your neighbours along and come have a fun, free bbq on us! If you're able to, bring a small dish to share but don't worry if you can't.

See you all there!!
