South Gippsland Hospital South Gippsland Hospital is a small rural health service serving the communities of Corner Inlet.

South Gippsland Hospital is located in the small town of Foster at the gateway to Wilson’s Promontory, Corner Inlet and Waratah Bay. The town of Foster has a population of approximately 1200 people however the official catchment area of the Hospital boasts 6,500 people. The organisation, classified as a small rural health service , is an integrated hospital and community health service providing a

broad range of acute and primary care services. It is closely associated with the Foster and Toora Medical Centres which provide the medical practitioner services.

As the State Funeral Service for Neale Daniher AO will be held today, our Flags will be flown at half-mast.

In 2013, Neale was diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND).

Determined to help others living with the disease, Neale co-founded FightMND.

Together with his family and supporters, FightMND has committed over $141 million to medical research and care, to improve the lives of those living with MND, and to find treatments and ultimately a cure.

Neale was named the Victorian of the Year in 2019 and the Australian of the Year in 2025, in recognition of his extraordinary contributions in leading the fight against MND, inspiring millions of Australians with hope.

Foster Early Learning are leading the way in creating a healthier start for local children.

They have received Victorian Government recognition for achieving best practice benchmarks in all health areas of the Achievement Program. They are the second education setting in Bass Coast and South Gippsland shires to complete this milestone!

The Achievement Program is a free initiative that provides long day care centres, kindergartens and schools with a framework to bring together and enhance their health and wellbeing initiatives, supporting a whole-service approach to health and wellbeing.

Local support is provided by the South Coast Prevention Team, a partnership between Bayside Health Regional and South Gippsland Hospital.

We joined community members and other local services to mark IDAHOBIT – the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination, taking part in our 4th annual Pride March, that brought people of all ages together in a show of support and inclusion.

The march saw participation from local community members, secondary school students, Ambulance Victoria, Prom Country Aged Care, Foster Medical Centre, Manna Gum Community House, and South Gippsland Shire representatives walking side by side.

Good health care starts with people feeling safe, respected and understood. Seeing our community come together like this shows the strength of South Gippsland and our shared commitment to looking after one another.

We continue to work alongside community partners to promote inclusive practices and ongoing support for LGBTQIA+ people and their families.
