Coverage stock Middle Island Resources (ASX: MDI) has delivered an encouraging set of early‑stage copper exploration results from its Priboj Project in Serbia - strengthening the case for VMS‑style copper potential across a licence package that has seen no historical exploration.
New soil and rock chip results from the Priboj Project have confirmed large-scale copper targets at two prospects.
· Jelaca: +200ppm Cu anomaly over 900m x 400m, soil assays up to 862ppm Cu, rock chips up to 3.21% Cu & 26g/t Ag, expanding the mineralised basalt footprint, previous samples returned up to 10.3% Cu.
· Oglavak: +200ppm Cu anomaly over 600m x 400m, peak soil assay 1,614ppm Cu, sits on a favourable lithological boundary - an ideal VMS terrain.
Why It’s Significant
· The scale of the soil anomalies and the tenor of rock chip assays suggest the company is vectoring into a potentially meaningful mineralised system.
· With multiple coherent anomalies, high-grade rock chips and a geological setting comparable to major Western Tethyan discoveries, MDI is now preparing for maiden RC drilling at Jelaca and further soil work across Jermovac.
· For a project with zero prior exploration, these results are highly encouraging - and position Priboj as an emerging copper district that’s worth watching.
