Eumungerie first received a 'Mail Receiving Office' in 1902 and in 1912 the first 'Post Office' was established. There have been many operators of this Post Office in many and varied locations (Railway Station and private homes). The Post Office was located at 27 Railway Street for almost 76 years and upon the sale of that premises we relocated the business to its current location at the end of Fe

bruary 2019. Along with providing all the usual Postal Services we also provide Bill Payment, Banking, Phone Recharge and Sim Cards, Gift Lines, School Souvenirs, Gift Cards and assorted 'corner store' items.

IMPORTANT.
From 110 BACK TO 100....
LOWER speed limit on the Mitchell Highway between DUBBO and WELLINGTON

The 110 km/h speed limit on the Mitchell Highway between Dubbo and Wellington will be reduced to 100 km/h for the safety of all road users.

Transport for NSW conducted a speed zone review on two sections of the highway – from Dubbo to Geurie and Geurie to Wellington – in response to safety concerns raised by road users and following the introduction of an updated speed zoning standard for NSW.

Transport for NSW Executive Director Damien Pfeiffer said the review assessed a number of factors including location, crash history, road environment, the number of access points, road usage, traffic mix and traffic volumes.

“The Mitchell Highway is State Road under the control of Transport for NSW and is a vital link for residents, tourists, freight operators and primary producers in the state’s west and Central West,” Mr Pfeiffer said.

“The speed zone review considered only the 110 km/h sections of highway between Dubbo and Wellington, with no change planned for the existing 50 km/h speed limit through Geurie.

“The road environment is generally flat with good clearways at the edge of the road, but it is an undivided road with no physical separation between the opposing lanes of traffic.

“The review found that during the most recent five years of complete data there had been a higher-than-average number of crashes within the 110 km/h sections of highway, with 38 crashes resulting in 38 people being injured and, sadly, five people dying.

“Modelling indicates that the proposed changes could reduce fatalities by around 27 per cent and serious injuries by approximately 21 per cent.”

As a result of the review, the following changes will come into effect from MONDAY 22 June 2026

The speed limit will be reduced from 110 km/h to 100 km/h on a 14.1 km stretch of the Mitchell Highway from just north of Saxa Road in Wellington to just south of The Old Road in Geurie.

The speed limit will be reduced from 110 km/h to 100 km/h on a 20.7 km stretch of the Mitchell Highway from just north of Old Dubbo Road in Geurie to just south of South Buninyong Road in Dubbo.

The existing 50 km/h speed limit through Geurie will remain.

“Based off an analysis of current operating speeds for this route, it is estimated these changes will add less than a minute to most motorists’ journeys between Dubbo and Wellington and will have no impact on heavy vehicles that are already operating under a 100 km/h speed limit,” Mr Pfeiffer said.

New signage will be installed to advise motorists of the changes.
