At EPS we have had an exciting few weeks with the anticipated arrival of our little chicks.
It all started with a strange new piece of equipment in the classroom- there was much discussion over what it was and what would come from this experience.
With 33 curious little students watching closely, we finally welcomed our first chicks.
🐣 So far we have 14 happy and healthy chicks with a few more yet to hatch. 🐣

K/1/2 Science.
One of our design challenges this year was to build a 3 Little Pig's House out of materials that would allow it to stand when the Big Bad Wolf huffed and puffed, and also when it hailed. They needed to design it so when it rained it wouldn't get wet inside. We recently tested some of our finished houses. All of the houses successfully withstood the Wolf's huff and puff and hail, but only 1 house didn't get wet inside. 🐺🐷🐷🐷

The Primary class have been exploring 3D shapes and their nets. Today, they used the magnetic tiles to see how many different ways they could create nets for 3D shapes. There was a lot of discussion about faces, edges, pyramid vs prism and plenty of testing and problem solving. Great job Primary class 👏

Primary Excursion Day 3:
We started the day with a lovely morning walk to the lake where we spotted plenty of kangaroos and a deer.
Once we were packed and had a delicious breakfast we were off to archery to put our aim to the test.
We had a few challenges with Mason taking the win for popping a balloon which was pinned to the target. A great opportunity for students to try something new and build resilience.
Following morning tea we made our way to the track for pedal karts- we have some little speedsters in the mix! This activity was a favourite among most.

We are so grateful to the staff at Lake Burrendong- they planned a fantastic and well organised trip for us and made each day memorable, as well as yummy food to refuel us between activities.

Finally, a big THANK YOU to Mrs Hassa and Miss Ash for attending this excursion and enabling our students to have this wonderful experience! Now for everyone to rest and enjoy the weekend.

Day 2's next adventure - Grass skiing and laser tag.
The ultimate team game with blue coming out as winners of the day for laser tag.
During grass skiing, buddies had to work together to lead and guide each other down the hill. All students had such courage to make their way down the hill- it was a little scary to begin with.

Primary Excursion: Day 2- Survival skills and campfire. This morning we went on a survival adventure. The students worked in small groups and were given supplies to create a shelter that needed to fit the team inside and protect them from the ‘storm’. They then had build a fire and cook damper- yum! To finish off their adventure they ‘called for help’ by creating bottle flares. The teamwork displayed by students today was impressive and we are proud of how well each and every one have taken on these new experiences.

This afternoon the Primary class participated in orienteering where students had to find letter markers around the campsite using a map- all those mapping skills learnt in maths were put to good use!
Then it was off to initiative activities where we had to solve puzzles and work in teams to complete challenges. A great first day!
