It is with great sadness we learned of the death of one of our firefighters at a house fire at Grose Vale, north-west of Sydney, this morning.

The firefighter was among the first crews responding to the house, which became engulfed in flames, on Grose Vale Road just before 8am.

Our thoughts are with family, friends and colleagues at this tragic time.

Commissioner Fewtrell has delivered extraordinary leadership throughout many complex and challenging incidents, including the recent and devastating Greta bus crash and the major Surry Hills warehouse fire, as well as the Black Summer bushfires of 2019/20 and the floods of 2022.

He is a highly accomplished and dedicated emergency services leader, with a quarter of a century of service at Fire and Rescue NSW and has dedicated his career to keeping the people of NSW safe.

Congratulations to Erin Pogmore for winning the RESCA Officer of the Year at the 2023 Rotary Emergency Service Awards.

The NSW Rotary Emergency Services Community Awards are given to personnel who go above and beyond the call of duty in community service. All NSW Emergency Services Organisations endorse these awards.

Last year Erin was fighting a fire when she received news that her home had burnt down. She showed up for duty the next day.

She is also a recipient of the Higgins & Langley Special Commendation, the premiere international recognition for swift water and flood rescue.

Currently Erin works in our Capability team, developing our in-water rescue skills and training the next generation of rescuers.

Earlier today, Fire and rescue 033 Engadine Station along with Fire and rescue 008 Liverpool stations TRV, NSW Ambulance, NSW RFS Heathcoat, NSW SES Sutherland Shire attended to an injured bushwalker in the Karloo Pools walking trail.
The patient was successfully extricated from the bush with the assistance of a specialist piece of equipment from FRNSW many hands from all attending services.

Fire and Rescue NSW Station 033 Engadine had a rescue last night in the Royal National Park ,Karloo Pools. Seven lost bushwalkers were brought to safety.

Saturday afternoon Henry decided to go for a swim at a popular swimming hole near the needles at Barden Ridge with his support human. Unfortunately Henry hurt his paw and wasn't able to walk out.
With some assistance over difficult terrain Henry was assisted safely to his humans car and was looking forward to a trip to the vet for an assessment. 🐶🩺

Tree down on a truck and car this morning on President Ave Miranda .Both motorists were lucky to escape serious injury.

A car left the road yesterday in the Royal National Park. One of a number of similar incidents over the recent wet weather.The driver was not seriously injured.
Slow down on wet roads.
