Much of the state will experience a High Fire Danger Rating this week, including most of southern, central and north west Queensland from Thursday 🔥

If you were considering a burn on your property in the next few days, it would be best to hold off until conditions improve.

Make sure you always check the conditions, keep in touch with your local fire warden and ensure you have a permit before starting a burn.

Very disappointing to hear that the tableland Rural fire shed was broken into overnight.
Today this unit has had to reject callouts to fires due to the breakin and loss of appliances.
Pleased to hear they can indentify the culprits from the good camera footage.

Hi,

I hope you’re keeping well?

We are reaching out to see if there are any current or former volunteer firefighters in your organisation who may wish to participate in some medical research on bushfire smoke and health, being conducted by QIMR Berghofer.

We would love to speak to people who keen to share their experience in fighting fires, and why it’s important to research the effects on firefighter health.

I can be contacted on 0409909493

Kind regards,

Tash

🌀⛈🔥 Natural disasters impact thousands of Queenslanders every year. Each disaster has lasting effects on people, their property and their possessions. Disasters can happen fast and without much warning. This means that it is hard to react to a disaster if you have not planned for one.

People who get ready before a disaster will know what to do and have the things they need to act quickly and stay safe. The best way to protect you and your family is to have a good plan.

Three Steps to Get Ready:
1. Understand your risk – by considering how bad weather would impact how you live, work and play.

2. Prepare a household emergency plan – so you can act quickly when the weather turns.

3. Pack an emergency kit – with items to keep you safe and comfortable for multiple days without needing to go to the shops.
