​The Elsmore Rural Fire Brigade is currently on the scene of a bushfire burning near Tingha. Our crews have been working tirelessly alongside several neighboring brigades to prioritize the protection of the local community defending at least 10 property assets in the area.
​Crews remain on scene throughout the afternoon and evening to implement tactical backburning operations to help strengthen containment lines and halt the fire spread.
​In attendance we're Inverell Rural Fire Brigade Gilgai RFB, NSW RFS - Tingha Brigade, Tenterden RFB, Guyra RFB, Heavy Plant and one Water Bomber providing aerial support (until dark.)

FIRE PERMITS SUSPENDED – Friday 27th March until Saturday 28th March due to Elevated Fire Danger, all fire permits in Inverell, Glen Innes and Tenterfield LGA's are suspended from midnight today until Midnight Saturday morning.
This measure is being taken to reduce the risk of fires starting and spreading under the heightened fire conditions.
If you currently hold a fire permit, you are unable to light new fires or stoke up existing fires during the suspension period. Please ensure any planned burns or activities requiring a permit are postponed.

We are pleased to report that the fire is now contained.

Thanks to the hard work of our crews on the ground, a tactical backburn was successfully completed.

Our teams remain on-site and are busy bolstering containment lines and patrolling the area to ensure everything stays within bounds. You may still see some smoke in the area as the interior continues to burn out.
