Over the weekend, Morgan and Burra volunteer teams came together for a joint training day, focusing on remote patient management and extrication.

The teams worked through challenging scenarios, sharing knowledge and experience while strengthening their relationship.

Great work and well done to both teams. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

From South Africa to South Australia - Goolwa Paramedics Devan and Mark are both originally from South Africa who share much in common.

Devan joined SAAS in 2018 after a decade as a Critical Care Paramedic in Durban. During his career, Devan also worked as a Flight Critical Care Paramedic and supported international patient transfers and retrievals through the Emir of Qatar's medical council.

"I thought it was pretty cool that we shared the same background. I never would have imagined that, so far away down under, I'd be working alongside a fellow South African," Devan said.

Mark joined SAAS in 2017 following a career which included working as an intermediate life support paramedic in South Africa in 2002 and completing the advanced life support paramedic degree in Scotland in 2009.

โ€œIt was amazing to meet someone who seems to share a parallel life with mine. We are similar in many ways and it goes to show how small the world is โ€“ considering I have also met four other paramedics I used to know back in South Africa,โ€ Mark said.

Together, they bring a wealth of international experience and expertise to their local community ๐Ÿš‘

Congratulations to Yunta volunteer Allen on recently reaching an incredible milestone of 35 years of service to his local community.

As a single responder, Allen has supported a vast area, attending a wide range of incidents, including some that have taken him close to the New South Wales border.

Through it all, he has continued to answer the pager with unwavering dedication, supported every step of the way by his wife, Kerry.

Thank you, Allen, for your outstanding commitment, dedication and service to the Yunta community. ๐Ÿ‘

After two years as a Volunteer Ambassador, Amanda has officially signed off from her role. However, she continues to volunteer with our Peterborough team in green!

Amanda has been a strong voice for volunteering at SAAS, sharing her experiences and inspiring others to get involved. Her Facebook posts had a reach of 167,519 and has made a huge impact in helping South Australians learn about volunteering with SAAS.

Her advice to prospective volunteers says it all: "It's an opportunity to lend a helping hand, to listen, show compassion, and remind others that they are not alone."

Thank you, Amanda, for your passion, dedication, and advocacy. Your efforts have helped inspire others to join the team in green and make a difference in their communities. ๐Ÿ’š

Huge effort from our crews and emergency services partners last month.

A patient was airlifted to hospital following an incident on a clifftop walking trail. Due to the steep terrain, SASES volunteers and SAAS Remote staff abseiled down the cliff face to help stabilise the patient before our Special Operations Rescue Paramedics successfully winched the patient into the rescue helicopter.

A massive thank you to our crews, SASES volunteers and all other emergency service workers on scene for a seamless team effort under pressure. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿš

๐ŸŒฒ Trail safety reminder: Always stay on marked paths, watch your footing, carry a charged phone, and, where possible, walk with a buddy.

Our Bordertown volunteer team will be attending the footy finals at Bordertown this Sunday and at Mundulla on 19 September.

Find out more about volunteering with SAAS and how you can support your local community.

By playing a vital role in providing emergency care and transport, our Bordertown volunteer team makes a positive difference.

To be a SAAS volunteer you donโ€™t need any medical experience and all you need is a willingness to learn.

Our Lameroo crew have certainly been busy getting out and aboutโ€“ recently at the Lameroo Careers Expo where they provided guidance for students and jobseekers interested in a career at SAAS. The team provided information and demonstrations, as well as had a great opportunity to network with those from the local community.
