Victorian School Building Authority Official account of the Victorian School Building Authority. We design, build and modernise schools and kindergartens across Victoria.

We design, build and modernise schools and kindergartens. The Victorian Government is doing this on a scale not seen since free education was introduced in the 1870s. The Victorian School Building Authority is part of the Department of Education. Since 2016, we have managed this education construction boom. Our work is helping every Victorian child have a great local school that sets them up to thrive. The Victorian Government has invested $1.6 billion in the 2026–27 State Budget for our school building projects. This investment is part of the government's Education State reforms. We have opened 121 new schools since 2017. We have also been busy with more than 2,400 other projects that upgrade or expand schools. Our work is improving conditions and creating new learning opportunities for students. As well as reforming schools, we are transforming neighbourhoods. Our projects are giving schools resources that can be shared with their communities. These resources include:
- new gyms and sports ovals
- rooms for health services
- theatres and other performing arts spaces. We're also helping the Victorian Government reform early learning. Working with the sector, we have a massive construction program underway. We’re building, modernising and expanding kindergartens across the state. This program is making 2 years of kindergarten possible for all Victorian children. Other work we manage includes:
- organising emergency maintenance for schools damaged by natural disasters and other unforeseen issues
- managing a new generation of modular classrooms
- running programs for smaller building projects that make a big difference
- helping non-government schools expand and modernise.

Kulap Primary School has opened its doors in Clyde!

In January this year, the new school welcomed students from Prep to Grade 6. It's also home to a kindergarten, so local kids can transition smoothly from kinder to primary school (and makes school pick-up a little easier on parents!)

Kulap is a Boonwurrung language word meaning emu.

We've worked with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Early Years Education (MACSEYE) to deliver 9 new early learning hubs across Victoria. Over the next few years this partnership will support more projects to create kindergarten places in the communities that need them most.

Meet Boroondara Park Primary School's Keen Green Team! 🐔🌱

These Year 5 & 6 students run the show! From chickens and guinea pigs to stick insects and veggie gardens, KGT have it all.

After winning 'Most Engaging Garden for Learning' at the 2025 Victorian Schools Garden Program Awards, the KGT crew got to decide how to spend their prize money. Soon they'll have their own green wall complete with a fish tank filtration system! 🐟
