On Fathers’ Day 2026 a crew from Dural joined crews from several other brigades in Hornsby and Ku rung g*i councils’ areas to complete a complex hazard reduction burn at Moore’s Creek in East Linfield.

We worked along a 500m track without road access reducing fuel loads and fire risk to adjacent properties. Preservation of known indigenous heritage sites was a focus for this hazard reduction burn. Our crew dealt with some steep terrain and a lot of hose work. The crew returned home in time for their families’ fathers’ day celebrations,

We are recruiting more members. If you’d like to join us to help reduce our communities’ fire risk and look after our precious bushland and heritage message us or say hi one of our upcoming community events.

Saturday 6th was Dural Brigade’s AGM for 2026. It is a great opportunity for brigade members to come together to take stock of the last year and look forward to the next 12 months ahead. It is also a great chance to catch up with the local district staff and Group Captains who come down to help run proceedings, provide updates, and answer questions.

At each AGM we also elect our captain, deputies, and admin officers for the next year. Thank you to all those who take on positions and volunteer their time and effort above normal firefighting duties to help the brigade run smoothly.

A special congratulations to Amy who was elected as a deputy after completing her Crew Leader course in March. Amy has been a valuable member of the brigade since 2020 and will no doubt do the brigade proud as one of its leaders.

The AGM ended as it does every year, with a bbq lunch, a brigade photo, and plenty of conversation and laughs between members.
