Last weekend, 3 members from Dunmore Brigade participated in their Village Firefighter's course. One as a trainer, another 2 as trainees.
This course is done in 2 parts, with the first completed last weekend, and the second in the coming weeks. Teaching valuable skills and expanding on the knowledge learned from Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2 (Formerly Bush Firefighter) by giving the trainee's additional knowledge and skills for fighting and assisting in fighting rural structure fires.
The course features a variety of theory and practical learning, letting everyone practice skills such as ventilation, flaking hose, forcible entry and relay pumping to name a few.
Also included was a few demonstations including the use of a burn box to show fire behaviour and patterns.
A big thanks to all the instructors for their commitment and giving up their weekends to teach new skills and looking forward to the next phase!
