Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park is located on Kangaroo Island, 3kms past Parndana on the Playford Highway. With a wide range of native Australian Mammals, Birds and Reptiles, you can get up close and personal with some of our unique wildlife. Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park officially opened in 1992 and came under new management in July 2013. There are lots of upgrades and changes underway and all of

our animals will be getting brand new enclosures in the near future! Our aim is to provide the visitors to Kangaroo Island with an unforgettable, hands-on experience with some of Australia's well known native wildlife. Be sure to come and visit on your next holiday and see what is in store for the future of the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park. From wildlife care and bird training to retail, groundskeeping and cleaning roles, there are new exciting opportunities to join our passionate and supportive team in a truly unique environment.

Keep your eyes peeled on your next visit to KIWP… 👀🎄

Our Elf on the Shelf has been spotted sneaking around the park, getting up to mischief and checking on our animals (and visitors 👀).

You never know where he’ll pop up next — perched in an enclosure, hiding near the pathways, or causing a little festive chaos behind the scenes.

☀️ Hot Weather & Koala Encounters 🐨

As we head into the warmer summer months, you may notice some changes to our koala encounters and holds.

Koalas are very sensitive to heat and, during hot weather. To ensure their comfort and wellbeing always come first, our koala encounters may be adjusted, shortened, or cancelled on particularly hot days.

While this can be disappointing, these decisions are made with our koalas’ health as the top priority. Our keepers closely monitor temperatures and koala behaviour daily to make the safest call.

Meet the team!

Meet Kate one of our superb keepers, Kate joined the KIWP crew back in December 2022, and she’s been an absolute legend ever since! From feeding, training and chatting with visitors to caring for all the animals that call the KI wildlife park home, she always brings her big smile and even bigger heart.

Her favourite animals at the park are our five Little Penguins who she work closely with and our lovely dingoes — two groups with plenty of personality!

We’re so lucky to have Kate as part of the KIWP family 💚
