The Diggers Rest Fire Brigade was founded in 1969. The Brigades initial station was located in the Railway Station car park on Coimadai Road. Since the Brigade was first formed there have been only 4 Captains to lead the way. In 1996 the Brigade relocated to a new station which is the current home on Plumpton Road. During this time there have been a number of different vehicles operated within th

e community. The Brigade we now know has two trucks and a car. Tanker 1 is a CFA owned appliance the remaining appliances Tanker 2 and the Car are both owned by the Brigade. The Brigade is made up of a wide range of members, both male and female with ages ranging from 16 to 61. There is a combination of shift workers, full time workers, students and also self employed members which assists with the number of calls the Brigade can attend no matter what time of day.

1st of July 2026 marks a significant day for the Diggers Rest Fire Brigade.
The changing of the guard.

After 10 years as Captain of our brigade Tim Welshe has decided to stand down and has handed the reigns of the brigade over.

Lisa English was elected by the Diggers Rest Fire Brigade members to lead them and the community going forward.

Lisa came to the Diggers Rest Fire Brigade some time ago and brings with her 22 years of dedicated service. Lisa has amassed a great variety of knowledge, skills and experiences gained though her previous roles as Captain of Craigieburn Fire Brigade and Deputy Group Officer of Hume Group.

Lisa follows former Captains: Jim Showler, Andrew Duncan, Robin Bootle, Luke Hynes, Steven Wilde and Tim Welshe.

Congratulations to our winning team the “Russells”

A massive thank you to those who came along to this years Annual Trivia Night and made the night so much fun!

The night was a huge success, which couldn’t have been possible with out the wonderful companies and small businesses that donated, we are grateful to all of you for your ongoing support of our brigade.

Thank you to the Diggers Rest Football and Netball Club for hosting us and keeping everyone hydrated!

Thank you also to our very own Taylor Murphy for hosting the trivia and being our MC for the night.

💚💜A reminder that tomorrow the Diggers Rest Fire Brigade will be out doing a door knock collection in majority of the Diggers Rest township, to support the Royal Children’s Hospital, Good Friday Appeal from 9:30am - 3:00pm.

Please give anything big or little that you can, to support the sick kids and families in need whilst in hospital. Your support is greatly appreciated.

We also have online donations open now, if you won’t be home or miss us tomorrow! 💚💜
