Today, on Thank A First Responder Day 2026, we pause to acknowledge and thank all of the men and women who dedicate themselves to keeping our communities safe.
A special thank you goes to our own Diamond Beach RFS volunteers. Time and time again, these ordinary people do extraordinary things โ leaving family dinners, getting out of bed in the middle of the night, putting aside personal commitments, and running towards danger when others are turning the other way. Your commitment, courage and selflessness does not go unnoticed, and our community is stronger because of you.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to our fellow emergency service colleagues who work alongside us every day. Thank you to Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Police, NSW Ambulance, the NSW State Emergency Service (SES), Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA), and Marine Rescue for your dedication, professionalism and unwavering service to our local communities.
Whether responding to fires, medical emergencies, rescues, storms, road crashes or supporting those in need during difficult times, first responders embody the very best of community spirit.
To every volunteer and career emergency service worker: thank you for what you do, today and every day.
