Last week in Creative Collective we tuned into home and what that means to us. 🏠
It could be a physical house, a place, a person or anywhere that is you feel safe. We then drew our homes on foam sheets, cut them out and created stamps from them. We created a small community from using our own stamps and everyone else's. It was interesting to see what our definition of home is, how it felt to use other people houses and what colours, lines and elements were used.

Our next session will be on 9 June with spots filling up. Give us a call or message if you'd like to be involved. 🎨💆‍♀️

❄️ Winter is here and June is packed with great activities! ❄️

Our regular programs are continuing throughout the month, with a few seasonal changes. Sizzle and Play is heading indoors for winter and becoming Soup and Play 🍲. Plus, pop into the Foodshed on Fridays and enjoy a warm cup of soup with us!

We're also excited to be offering two fantastic free community workshops this month:

💜 Where's Your Line? Workshop
In partnership with the Tasmanian Family and Sexual Violence Alliance and Engender Equality, this values-led workshop helps build community capacity to change culture and prevent the abuse of women and girls.

💚 TANA Talk – Understanding Childhood Trauma
Join the Trauma Awareness Network Australia for a free community education session exploring:
• How trauma affects a child's brain
• The protective power of positive childhood experiences

🍂❄️ Another Week and a New Month at The House! ❄️🍂

Winter has officially arrived, and with the cooler weather comes a couple of changes to our weekly program lineup.

🥣 Soup & Play is here for Winter!
Our Tuesday afternoon Sizzle & Play sessions are moving indoors for the winter months and becoming Soup & Play. Join us each week for a warm cup of soup, indoor activities, board games, and plenty of opportunities to connect with others in the community.

🍲 Free Soup Fridays Return!
We're also excited to bring back Free Soup Fridays in the Foodshed. Every Friday throughout winter, pop in for a free cup of homemade soup.

Alongside these seasonal changes, we've still got all your favourite programs running throughout the week, including Monday Mosaics, Cafe Monday and Thursday, Craft, Cuppa & Chat, Playgroup, Teen-A-Rama, Foodshed, and more!

💙 Whether you're looking to learn something new, meet new people, keep warm, or simply enjoy a cuppa, there's always a place for you at The House.

We’re so excited to be celebrating this special week with activities inspired by this year’s NSS book Luna Roo 🦘📚

🎨 Tuesday – Creative Fun Day
Join us for some hands-on, creative activities inspired by Luna Roo. A great chance for little ones to explore, create and have fun!

📖 Wednesday – NSS Storytime Event
Come along and enjoy a relaxed morning of storytime and a yummy free morning tea. Our official reading of Luna Roo kicks off at 11am, hosted with National Job Link.

🎁 We also have Luna Roo books to give away to our little friends on Wednesday as well!

🤸‍♀️ Thursday – Play at the House Playgroup
Join us for our weekly playgroup session at The Devonport Community House! 10 Morris Avenue, Devonport.

Last Week at Cook's Corner we made Rainbow Beef. A delicious asian dish full of flavour. The recipe is here if you would like to make it.

The next cooking session is 3 June and is booked out.
After this, sessions will be held in 4 session blocks. This means you book in for 4 sessions in a row, then we have a new group of people for 4 sessions. There are 2 spots left if you would like to join in. Each sessions costs $3 per person. Just give us a call or message to book 6424 7060.

This popular group is nearly fully booked! If you’d like to join us, be quick. This session we’ll be exploring identity, belonging and community through the art of stamping. A creative space to reflect, share, and make something meaningful together.

💛🏠As Volunteer Week comes to an end, The Devonport Community House would like to sincerely acknowledge and thank all of our incredible volunteers.
