Join us this September for The Emotion Toolbox, the next workshop in our Stronger Families Series.

This free session for parents and carers of children aged 0-17 years will explore why children behave the way they do and provide practical tools to respond calmly, set boundaries and support emotional development.

At YFCC, we are incredibly grateful to have the support of Her Excellency the Honourable Caroline Wells, Governor of Tasmania, as our Patron.

As an organisation, we are privileged to have the support of someone who has dedicated so much of her life to serving the Tasmanian community. Her Excellency's interest in the wellbeing of children, young people and families and her genuine appreciation of the role community organisations play, is something we value enormously.

Patronage is about much more than a title. It is about belief in an organisation's purpose and the people it serves. Knowing that Her Excellency stands behind the work of YFCC is both an honour and an encouragement to everyone involved in our organisation.

Applications are now open to become the 2027 Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations.

Each year, the Youth Representative travels across Australia to hear directly from young people aged 12–25 about their experiences, priorities and ideas, helping ensure young voices are represented in national and international decision-making.

The successful applicant will lead consultations with young people across the country, meet with government and community leaders and represent young Australians at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

YFCC encourages young people across our community who are passionate about creating change and making sure young Australians are heard to consider applying.

Applicants must be Australian citizens, aged at least 18 when applying and no older than 25 as of 1 January 2027. Applications close on 13 September 2026.

Every August 31, International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) brings a global community together to take action on overdose.

This year the theme for IOAD is 25 Years On. Still Needed.

For 25 years, International Overdose Awareness Day has brought people together to remember those we’ve lost and to take action to save lives.

Overdose continues to affect every community, yet it can be prevented.

We know how to reduce risk and keep people safe. By speaking openly, learning from one another, and treating each other with care and respect, we build a world where fewer lives are lost.

Because while this day is still needed, it doesn’t have to be forever.

Are you a parent or carer of children aged between 2 and 12 years? Join us at the 1-2-3 Magic & Emotion Coaching Parenting Program being held in Burnie this September.

Part of our Helping Young Families Program, the free three-session program will provide parents and carers with practical tools and strategies to help navigate some of the everyday challenges of raising children.

Sessions will be held from 10am to 12pm on Wednesdays 16, 23 and 30 September at YFCC, 32 Marine Terrace Burnie.

There is no cost to participate, with morning tea also provided, but bookings are essential. Visit the link below.

Community service organisations across Tasmania are being encouraged to have their say on the pressures facing the sector.

TasCOSS’s Community Services Industry Sustainability Pulse Check will help build a clearer picture of the impact of rising costs, growing demand and funding challenges, and strengthen advocacy for sustainable funding and policy settings.

YFCC encourages community service organisations across the state to take part and help ensure the experiences of our sector are heard.

The Pulse Check closes at 5pm on Friday 4 September.
