A gentle reminder for our families.
At our CFLC, we encourage adults to join in with their children’s play and learning.

Children learn best when a trusted adult is alongside them — playing, talking, exploring and sharing in the moment.

We ask families to:
✨ Get involved in your child’s play
✨ Talk and explore together
✨ Keep phones away so your focus can be on your child

Your presence and engagement make a big difference to your child’s confidence, connection and learning.

Not having phones in the play space is also a requirement for us to meet our safeguarding requirements.

What does this mean? It means you’re not just reading to your child; you’re reading with them. When this happens, your child does a lot more than listening as you read – they point out and share things of interest to them and this turns into a conversation.

Both are designed to be shared. Forward to a family, include in a session follow-up, post in a parent communication channel — whatever works in your setting.

Using these strategies with the support and guidance of a Hanen Certified Speech-Language Pathologist will have the greatest impact. The handout is a starting point. You’re the reason it works.
