🔥ℹ️ Ringarooma community…

Weather permitting, Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a fuel reduction burn:
ℹ️ on 27 August
ℹ️ at Ringarooma - Mount Victoria Regional Reserve
ℹ️ of approximately 126 hectares
ℹ️ which will likely take 2-4 days to complete.

This burn is part of the state-wide Fuel Reduction Program which is aimed at reducing the bushfire risk to help protect lives and communities.

AusAlert is a new national warning system that uses the latest technology to send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices.

It will be ready to use in October 2026, but before it launches, we need to test the system in communities across Australia, and Launceston, Tasmania has been chosen as a test location.

Around 11am on Monday 15 June 2026 if you are in or around Launceston, your mobile devices, such as mobile phones, tablets and smart watches, may receive a test alert.

The AusAlert test in your area is a Priority Alert. It will vibrate and include a loud siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds. If receiving the test could disrupt you or cause you or someone you know to feel unsafe, visit the AusAlert website at ausalert.gov.au to find out how to turn a Priority Alert off on your device.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything, but in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

🔥Update on Sustainable Timber Tasmania's 2026 Autumn Planned Burning Program.
The following planned burns are being considered for today.

Northwest
🔥1 burn south of Hellyer
Smoke from these burns is forecast to travel in a north easterly direction and may be visible to nearby communities.

Northeast
🔥1 burn southeast of Mathinna
Smoke from this burn is forecast to travel in an east to north easterly direction and may be visible to nearby communities.

🔥1 burn south of Scottsdale
Smoke from this burn is forecast to travel in a north easterly direction and may be visible to nearby communities.

A planned burn involves strategically lighting and maintaining a fire in an area of harvested forest to regenerate the forest in a similar manner to natural regeneration following a bushfire.
Commencement of this burn will be subject to further on-site evaluation of conditions including temperature, wind direction and speed, fuel and vegetation moisture and favourable smoke dispersion away from local communities.
These burns also help to enhance community safety by reducing fuel loads in Tasmania’s public production forests.
Smoke from planned burns tends to rise high into the sky. Smoke is usually visible but has minimal impact to local communities as it is not at ground level.

Planned Burn in Branxholm , over the next 5 days or so will depend on weather days they will be burning .

Smoke will dift Branxholm or Derby way over coming days.

Our Brigade is on the town if we are needed but the company doing the burn off will be there with the fire.

They have right permits etc in place to do the Autumn Burn.
