Hepburn Shire Council is running a VicEmergency App Help Pop-Up session in Clunes on Tuesday, 21 July 2026 | 06:00 PM - 07:30 PM, at Clunes Town Hall, 98 Bailey Street, Clunes.

The purpose of the VicEmergency App Help Drop-In sessions is to support community members to install, understand and confidently use the VicEmergency app so they can stay informed and safer during emergencies.

These hands-on sessions provide practical assistance to help participants download, install and set up VicEmergency and other useful emergency information tools on their smartphones or tablets. The sessions are open to people of all skill levels, and facilitators can provide as much support as needed, including one-on-one help.

Participants will also learn what different types of warnings, advice and updates mean within VicEmergency, and how to use the app to stay informed about local incidents and changing conditions. The aim is to build confidence using official emergency information sources, helping community members feel more prepared and connected during emergencies.

🚒 Training to be ready when our community needs us.

Many people know us for fighting fires, but our volunteers at Daylesford Fire Brigade also respond to serious motor vehicle collisions throughout our region.

To make sure we're ready when the call comes, we train in rescue as part of our regular training roster.

This week's rescue training night focused on patient extraction—practising how to safely remove a person from a damaged vehicle while working alongside other emergency services to provide the best possible care.

Using a training dummy, our members worked through various road crash scenarios, practising communication, teamwork and the techniques needed to safely access and remove a patient.

Rescue is about much more than cutting open a car. It requires careful planning, clear communication and the ability to work calmly and efficiently in what can be a highly stressful environment. Regular training ensures our volunteers maintain these critical skills and are ready to respond whenever our community needs us.

Everything we do is delivered by local volunteers who generously give their time to train, respond to emergencies and help protect our community.

We're incredibly proud of our members and the commitment they show week after week.

This is our very first post, and we're excited to finally have a place to share more of what our brigade does for our community.

Over the 2025/26 financial year, our volunteers responded to 141 incidents—an average of one call every 2.6 days.

Those incidents saw:
• 🚒 194 appliance responses
• 👨‍🚒 1,204 volunteer members responding to:

• 🚗 32 motor vehicle collisions and rescues
• 🔔 32 automatic alarms
• 🏠 10 structure fires
• 🌾 13 grass and scrub fires
• 🚑 7 assists to Ambulance Victoria
• 🔥 16 burn-off incidents
• 📟 31 miscellaneous callouts

Behind every one of these numbers is a team of dedicated local volunteers who leave their families, workplaces and daily lives to help protect our community whenever they're needed.

We're incredibly proud of what our brigade achieved over the past year and grateful to be part of such a supportive and resilient community.
