RSM WO1 Bryan Duffy, Northern Territory HQ AAC Bn, conducted an impromptu visit to 3 RHA Slatyford Detachment, Northumbria Army Cadet Force (ACF), on Monday 14 September 2026.

During the visit, RSM Duffy held an extended discussion with Detachment Commander SSGT Gillian Hetherington regarding the similarities and differences between the Australian Army Cadets and the Army Cadet Force. The conversation covered organisational structure, training delivery, youth development approaches, and the shared challenges faced by both organisations.

RSM Duffy was shown the detachment’s facilities and training spaces, gaining an overview of the resources used during their regular Monday and Wednesday training nights (1900–2100 hrs). He expressed interest in the detachment’s layout, equipment, and the methods employed to support cadet development.

Cadet Achievement Recognition

NT AAC BN are proud to congratulate one of our cadets on successfully achieving their Bronze Award for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.

👏 CDT Zachary Trenfield

This is a fantastic accomplishment that reflects their dedication, resilience, and commitment across service, skill, and physical recreation components of the program.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is internationally recognised and challenges young people to step outside their comfort zones, develop new skills, and contribute to their community — something this cadet has demonstrated exceptionally well.

Well done on this outstanding achievement. Your efforts set a great example for others within the unit.

🇦🇺 70 ACU & 71 ACU – Recruit Bivouac & Outdoor Obstacle Course 💪🪖

What an amazing activity for our 70 ACU Larrakeyah and 71 ACU Palmerston cadets!

Our recruits took part in their Recruit Bivouac, developing their field skills, teamwork, resilience and confidence, while cadets also had the opportunity to challenge themselves on the Outdoor Obstacle Course at Robertson Barracks.

A huge thank you to the Australian Army PTIs at Robertson Barracks for their incredible support, encouragement and professionalism throughout the obstacle course. Your guidance helped our cadets push beyond their comfort zones, overcome some fantastic challenges and, most importantly, support one another along the way.

It was great to see cadets encouraging their mates, having a go and showing determination even when the obstacles got tough. 💪

A fantastic effort by everyone involved and a great example of what the Australian Army Cadets is all about — courage, initiative, teamwork and mateship.

👏 Well done, 70 ACU & 71 ACU!
