St John NT Ambulance Service | Volunteers | First Aid Training
1300 ST JOHN | stjohnnt.org.au

St John is the leading provider of first aid and paramedic services in the Northern Territory, delivering day-to-day emergency care, providing volunteer first aiders and high quality first aid products, equipment and training. We are a self-funded charity directly linked to the Order of St John which is a long established global organisation that can trace its roots back over 900 years. The organi

sation has been in Australia since the 1800s and in Darwin since the 1950s. We work hard to build resilience in the NT community through everything that we do. From teaching first aid to restocking first aid kits, through to our paramedics and volunteers and their service to the community. We undertake important projects such as Community Education and First Aid in schools where we provide free non-accredited first aid training to remote communities, new parents and in schools, as well a Public Access Defibrillator project where we aim to have 1,000 public access defibs in the community by the end of 2021. As a charity, all profits from our products and services, such as first aid training, first aid kits or patient transfers, are put straight back into the community through our volunteer program.

As the Finke Desert Race celebrates its 50th anniversary, our team's finalising preparations to support the iconic event for the 49th consecutive year.

From the start line to the Finke community itself and everywhere in between, our volunteers, paramedics and support teams will once again be there helping keep competitors and spectators safe.

If you're heading out to Finke, please drive safely, stay hydrated, supervise children, follow event safety requirements and look out for one another.

International Order of St John leader Professor Mark Compton AM GCStJ recognised three of our youth members during a special ceremony at Katherine Ambulance Station this evening.

Neveah Willcox, Eliana Green and Liam Leckie received Service Shields in recognition of their leadership, community service and commitment to the values of St John.

The presentation is part of Professor Comptonโ€™s visit to the Northern Territory, where he will meet with our volunteers, paramedics and staff across Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs, and see first-hand the incredible work our people continue to do for Territorians.

Congratulations to all three recipients on this significant achievement!

Paras ๐Ÿค Firies

Our paramedics in Darwin and Alice Springs recently linked up with NT Fire and Rescue Service for interagency training, building stronger connections and sharpening the teamwork that saves lives when mere moments matter.

Training together helps crews better understand how each other operate on scene, making emergency responses smoother, safer and faster for patients and the community.

Our crews brushed up on different extrication techniques, scene safety considerations and learned in depth how NT Fire secure and stabilise vehicles.

Good people, good training, and our paras are still in awe of all their toys ๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿš’

Volunteers wanted across the Territory! ๐Ÿ’š

We are currently recruiting volunteers for a range of clinical and non-clinical roles, with opportunities to support the events Territorians care about.

Whether youโ€™re interested in first aid, event operations, logistics, community engagement, promotions, or helping behind the scenes, there is a role for you!

With this dry season set to be another record-setter, we're currently recruiting for volunteers to assist with:

๐ŸŽช First aid support at community events
๐Ÿ“ฆ Event setup, logistics and pack down
๐Ÿค Event planning and coordination
๐Ÿ“ฃ Promotions, marketing and merchandise
๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ General support roles across the organisation

No experience? No worries! We offer full training, mentoring and ongoing support, as well as travel support for applicable events and activities.

From Finke to local footy, volunteering with us is a chance to meet great people, learn new skills and make a real difference in your community while helping keep Territorians safe.

All volunteers are required to hold, or be willing and able to obtain, a current Ochre Card and National Police Check as part of onboarding.
