Today, 6 June, 5/7 RAR commemorates the Battle of Binh Ba (Operation Hammer, 1969).

From 6 to 8 June 1969, soldiers of 5 RAR fought intense close-quarters battles against a well entrenched and numerically superior North Vietnamese Army and Viet Cong force in the village of Binh Ba, north of Nui Dat. Supported by armour, artillery and aviation, the battalion cleared the village house by house in determined and disciplined fighting.

Private Wayne Teeling was killed in action during the battle and many more were wounded.

As members of 5/7 RAR, we honour their service, courage and sacrifice, and the legacy of those who endured, adapted and prevailed.

Lest We Forget.

The Tiger Battalion welcomes veterans, families and friends to commemorate the 57th Anniversary of the Battle of Binh Ba (6–8 June 1969).

From 17–19 June 2026, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice and legacy of those who fought at Binh Ba — and the generations of Battalion soldiers and veterans who have carried that spirit forward across every era of service.

Join us at Robertson Barracks as soldiers and veterans come together once again. Welcome home.

Those wishing to attend are encouraged to respond, or notify the 5 RAR Association as soon as practical, to assist the Battalion with base access and arrangements to facilitate your attendance.
