Today is International Overdose Awareness Day.π
25 Years On. Still Needed.
Overdose continues to affect every community. Yet it can be prevented. We know how to reduce risk and keep people safe. By speaking openly, learning from one another, and treating each other with love, dignity and respect, we can build a world where fewer lives are lost.
At KRC, we recognise dependence as a treatable medical condition. Stigma remains a significant barrier to care, preventing many people from seeking support and increasing the risks associated with substance use.
In the community room today, we invited people to help create our Poppy Memorial Board, with each flower representing a life, a memory or a message of hope and support. π
Today, and forever, we will continue to promote harm reduction, handing out naloxone, providing drug testing kits, linking people in with care if they would like and continuing to have conversations about how we can keep each other safe.
Thank you to everyone who joined us today and to those who continue to be part of the conversation.
Because overdose is preventable. And every life is worth protecting, remembering and fighting for.
