Important Information:
Gympie LGA is moving to BPL3 from midnight tonight.
There is a local Fireban in place as of 00.01 02/10/25 All existing permits are suspended.

What BPL 3 Means:
High Fire Danger: Conditions are conducive to rapid fire spread and intense burning.
Increased Risk: There is a significant and increased risk of a dangerous bushfire starting and spreading.
Urgent Preparedness: Residents in affected areas need to take immediate action to prepare for the potential threat.
What to Do During BPL 3:
Stay Informed: Monitor official Queensland Fire Department (QFD) sources for updates on current fire warnings and incidents.
Be Prepared: Have a bushfire survival plan in place.
Avoid Risky Activities: Refrain from activities that could spark a fire, especially during hot, dry, or windy conditions.

Information Post:
This morning, I have spent the entire morning on the phone advising existing permit holders of the new restrictions. Of the current permit holders there are just two left that are yet to burn. I've spoken at length to both applicants and they both have heavy plant equipment on hand to assist them. Both fires will be conducted late tomorrow afternoon into the evening. Curra RFB are on standby for the duration.
After that in consultation with my area director and the chief fire warden all Permits to Burn will be suspended until conditions improve. If you light a small fire and it escapes, there may be considerable delays in crews arriving to assist. At a fire yesterday afternoon crews were brought in from an hour and a half away.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Sean,
Fire Warden

Residents, homeowners & tenants: Please be aware that our local area is currently experiencing unpredictable weather conditions. A number of permit burns have escaped containment lines and become wildfires. As a result, permit restrictions are being imposed.
Please only light up if absolutely necessary. Keep fires as small as possible and only light up after 4pm to reduce any rate of spread. Give me a call if you need more details on the restrictions.

Curra crews have turned out to fires three times in the last 24 hrs. 6 times in the last 3 days. As the season progresses crews will become fatigued [bear in mind we have day jobs and are volunteers] We'd really like to spend our off time with our loved ones instead of fighting fires.
Cheers
Sean [fire warden]
