CISIET Session 014-C Graduation Celebrates Excellence, Service and Achievement

The latest Communications and Information Systems Initial Employment Training (CISIET) graduation on 20 August 2026 marked the successful completion of a challenging and rewarding training journey for Navy's newest CIS-C Sailors. Surrounded by family, friends, instructors, peers and distinguished guests, Session 014-C graduates celebrated the culmination of months of dedication, technical development and personal growth.

Throughout the course, trainees were challenged across a broad range of communications and information systems competencies, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to serve effectively across the Fleet and the broader Defence environment.

Session 014-C comprised of sailors from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, professions and lived experiences. Among the graduates were mature entrants, former professionals from a variety of civilian industries, dedicated community volunteers, athletes, and individuals with experience in advocacy and public service.

While each trainee arrived at HMAS Cerberus with a unique story, they were united by a shared commitment to service, teamwork and personal growth. This diversity of experience enriched the training environment, strengthened peer learning and reflected the broad spectrum of talent that continues to attract people to the Royal Australian Navy.

Mission accomplished for GE450 Emms Division!

After days spent adapting to the challenges of simulated life at sea, GE450 took on their final Mission Readiness Evaluation.

From battle PT and sandbagging under pressure to constructing a life raft in the pool, every activity tested their resilience, teamwork, and ability to think on their feet.

The final challenge saw recruits push themselves around HMAS Cerberus, overcoming fatigue and completing physical and mental tasks as a division.

Throughout the day, GE450 showed themselves and staff their determination, support for one another, and the Navy values expected of future sailors.

Bravo Zulu to GE450 on successfully completing their Mission Readiness Evaluation.

Commanding Officer, Captain Ben Esler RAN hosted a visit by Shadow Minister for Defence, Senator James Paterson, accompanied by Federal Member for Flinders, Ms Zoe McKenzie MP on Tuesday 01 September 2026.

The aim of the visit was to engage with Personnel and to view training schools. This was the first visit to HMAS Cerberus for Senator James Paterson since assuming the role of Shadow Minister for Defence.

R U OK Conversation Convoy arrived at on Wednesday 26 August 2026.

Defence and R U OK? partnered to deliver an exclusive Defence and R U OK? 2026 Conversation Convoy. During August, the convoy visited 14 bases throughout southern New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria. 'Defend Your Mental Health, join a Conversation' is a campaign which encourages higher levels of peer and social support for Defence personnel across Australia.

Defence service asks a lot of people. It shapes how you work, how you think, and how you connect with the people around you. Deployments, relocations, out of hours duties, operational tempo, injury and transition - these are experiences that most Australians will never face, and they carry real weight for members and veterans. But Defence also builds something few other workforces can: genuine community.

A sense of community and connection is one of the most powerful protective factors for mental health and wellbeing. We need to break down the stigma that keep some people suffering in silence and make it clear: you do not have to walk that road alone. Sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply ask, R U OK?

Not like a passing ship in the night - but stopping to ask like someone who genuinely wants to know the answer. Regular, honest conversations can make a real difference.
