Please be aware that schedule 3 permits for Agriculture burns🔥 are now being issued in our area.

If you see smoke,💨 there is a possibility that this is what you are seeing. Before calling any smoke sighting, please consider this. 🤔

Quite often smoke from these burns🔥 looks closer than it actually is. When someone calls in smoke sighting without confirming, it commits valuable resources to false alarms & means volunteers👩‍🚒 have to leave their family to check out what they know is only a farmer👩‍🌾 burning.🔥

Have you ever driven past a Fire Brigade standing there whilst smoke is still present and thought why don’t they put it out. Well here you go.

This afternoon 14/2/26 the Brigade along side with Ascot and Miners Rest Fire Brigades were paged to Bushland on fire on Gillies St between Bald Hills Rd and Addington Rd.

Thankfully for the help of the public who slowed down the spread of the fire it was contained to approximately 10x5 meters in size.

Now to the big question of why you may see CFA firefighters standing around not fully putting out a fire, the simple reason is that we are preserving the scene for a Fire Investigator to come to the fire ground and do what they do best, determining what could of potentially started the fire. By not damaging the area they are able to track the spread of the fire and give an accurate point of origin to the fires starting and hopefully finding the cause along the way.

Last night 13/2/26 at 20:21, Creswick Fire Brigade were paged to the reports of a bedroom fire in Creswick.

Upon turning out we were informed that an electrical fault had caused the fire and all occupants had evacuated the property. Prior to our arrival one of our Group DGO’s had arrived on scene and set up control with an initial word back of Not Yet Under Control.

Thanks to a neighbour who also happens to be a Firefighter from FRV, that managed to close the bedroom door limiting the spread of the fire to all other rooms of the house. First arriving crew donned Breathing Apparatus and did an aggressive internal attack on the fire managing to bring it under control with 15-20minutes of arrival.

It is a great reminder of how simply shutting a door can really slow down the rate of spread inside a house when the fire is unable to get as much oxygen as it requires.

At 17:05 on the 30/1/26, the brigade was paged out to Melbourne Rd Creswick, the initial pager message was for a Grass and Scrub fire spreading. Upon arrival crews found an area of bush approximately 20x7meters burning on the side of the road.

Thankfully for a quick response from our members and assistance from the public who tried to stop the spread, we were able to knock the flames down quickly.
