When was the last time you really looked at something ordinary?

Not glanced.
Not recognised.
Actually looked.

A vase on the kitchen bench.
A lemon.
A folded piece of linen.
The way afternoon light settles across a table.

Still life has been painted for centuries; not because these objects are extraordinary, but because they teach us something extraordinary.

They teach us that attention is the beginning of seeing.

On Saturday 8 August, I'll be leading Sacred Ordinary: The Art of Still Life as part of the Cossack Art Awards Public Program.

We'll spend the day slowing down, observing deeply, and learning how artists transform everyday objects into thoughtful paintings.

If you've ever wanted to paint, or simply learn to see differently, I would love to have you there.

xx Katherine

Unfortunately, we've made the difficult decision to cancel tonight's Cossack Art After Dark.

With the event taking place after dark and the closed portion of the highway yet to reopen, we cannot safely proceed via the gravel access road. The safety of our patrons, performers and staff has to come first.

We know this is disappointing, and we're incredibly sorry for the inconvenience.

If you purchased a bus ticket, we'll be in touch to arrange your refund.

We are also contacting all ticket holders directly, but please help us spread the word to anyone who was planning to attend tonight.

We understand you may have questions and will endeavour to respond to enquiries from Monday.

Thank you for your understanding, and again, we're very sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience. There are no plans to cancel any of Sunday's workshops or exhibition access tomorrow.
