To the dads & grandads whose home life can be interrupted at any moment by the sound of an alarm — who leave dinner, family time, birthdays, holidays, or a quiet night at home to respond when their community needs them.

Today, we celebrate not only the firefighters who answer the call, but the families who support them every step of the way.

Before the sun rises, we remember.
Our ranks have long been shaped by military service. Firefighters who served in the World Wars, and in the conflicts and humanitarian crises since. The skills, the discipline, and the Anzac spirit carry across. Many never returned. Their names, and their sacrifice, are part of who we are. It is a connection that runs between our service and theirs, and one that continues to this day.
